    Good morning all :wave::wave:,

    Happy days - got a bonus this month! That was unexpected, but verrrrrrrry welcome.

    £1,000 went into my stocks & shares ISA and plan to put the remaining £2,000 into the 2013/4 cash ISA come April.

    I hope you are all well, saving and keeping warm.

  • Pay day! :j

    I do the "pay myself first" thing too and have transferred £2088 to my savings account.

    I think this will be my best savings month of the year - as I was paid a large amount of expenses I was owed from November, and it looks like I will be moving into my house sometime next month and I will be buying paint, and a sofa, and a bed etc etc

    And my hours at work are changing slightly so I have a pay cut to look forward to as well :(
    Saved for a house deposit! :j Now for a new kitchen! :D

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Pay day today so on track with savings at £1000 for Jan... hoping to step it up a bit in the next few months.
  • Payday yesterday so 100 into ISA, 50 into Xmas account and £13 (counted up my change) into my kitchen account makes a total of £630 savings spread around different pots. Not a bad month but the rest will vary somewhat!

    A slow start for me! I could save more but due to a very hectic February I'm keeping more money in my bank account for emergencies, any surplus will be saved at my next payday. With that being said I've saved £300 this month! :)
  • Feb is a short(ish) month and I'm grateful for that at least nd ;)

    Roll on payday tho!

  • Just back from work and we had a staff meeting. HT was talking about staffing issues for next year due to falling school roll and cut backs. I am only temp there but had hoped to be able to stay on and become permanent. Not sure now if the job will be available next year. I have asked to speak to HT about the situation to see what the chances are. If not I am back looking for a job ASAP. My contract for this job finishes on 2nd June and I would want to have a permanent job starting in the August if not before.

    Depending on how things go this will affect my savings goal for the year. In the meantimeI am just going to save my butt off and have as much money in the bank as possible as a contingency.

    Today I completed my budget for February. It's all looking a bit tight next month but should pick up a bit in March. I will be filling out the end of month spreadsheet this evening with my £417.10.

    Must share our shopping experience this morning. I took what was left of the shopping budget out of the bank as we were off to Aldi to fill up. I had a grand total of £31 :D Now this month we have been trying to cut down our grocery bill and I thought I had my OH on board regarding this, though she does like to have full cupboards...and freezers. Now she did sort of cheat half way through the month by impulsively buying a load of bread and other 'bakery goods' one morning and refusing to tell me how much she had spent. I let it go, as she really has been trying hard, but I reminded her that I only had £31 for the shopping to last til the end of the month.

    So we arrived at Aldi, with a list of things we needed. OH starts putting a load of chocolate, bread, potatoes and peanuts in the trolley, all of which were not on the list. I started to put back the bread. She moaned. I reminded her that there were three loaves in the freezer. She stamped her foot and I allowed her 1 wholemeal loaf. Half of the potatoes went back, along with the peanuts. She sulked. Then she wanted tomatoes, custard and sugar, again not on the list. I allowed her the tomatoes. She started muttering something about it not being fair. I put back the cheese. She countered that she only had two packs in the fridge (she has 5!). Finally I put back the wine! The shop came to £32.65! I will try and find the extra money somewhere in the budget later. My OH is 63 years old, not a child. She has never budgeted for food in her life and I think she's finding it a bit difficult :rotfl:
