Managed to save £300 this month. Probably won't be so much next month as we have all the left over baby bits to buy before baby is born sometime in March (hopefully!) I'll leave it up but not sure I'll be saving anymore this month. Will put into my savings this week.Former Debt free wannabe. Now trying to save for a rainy day!0

Hi all
Quick question - are you counting solid cash saved only or could I include shares that I buy through work each month (it's only £30 pm and taken out my salary automatically)
Thanks for help!

It's up to you I would say, personally I'd include the £30.
I include the ~£400 per month I've increased my pension payments to.

I do the pay myself too. I've a got a monthly saver were I put the max amount in and then an esaver where I put a further smaller amount in to at the start of the month. After I paid my half of the bills what left is for me, so food, pets, social etc. I've now decided to get me to my £6000 target I'm going to transfer at the end of the month any left over money in my current account to my esaver. I used to just end up spending it in the next month but I will stick to my budget each month!
Now to add my total this month. Should be good as I've haven't been out much due to rain and snow meaning that DVD nights have been the better options!

I've managed to save £1,669.20 this month:
£1,500 into Premium Bonds (where I'm keeping cash until 6 Apr for a new ISA)
£25 Premium Bond prize re-invested into more PB's.
£144.20 into my BAYE scheme at work.
Slowlyfading, I just entered £1525 into the update form then I went into it again when I realised I'd saved money via BAYE, so it's just £1669.20 I've saved this month, not £3194.20 if that's what it looks like!
Also, since we are allowed to add any interest earnt in 2013, I was thinking of including my NS&I ILSC, ie subtracting the Dec 12 valuation from the Dec 13 valuation and classing it as interest, is that OK to do?!0 -
Interest is allowed
as is saving into pensions - it's all saving!

Hi SF & other savers!
I wondered if I could join you all having literally just moved over from the pay off as much as you can challenge. Sad circumstances have enabled me to clear the debt I had leftover from last year as my father passed away a few months ago and the inheritance has allowed me to clear what I owed (just before the cards started charging interest).
2012 was a hectic year, not only did I lose my dad after a very short illness, but in the last 6 months I've changed jobs, bought my first home with my dp, and my sister & I are in the process of getting dad's house ready to let out.
The c/card debt I've cleared was £1605, and dad had also loaned me £6000 for my half of the deposit. In my head I want to pay the loan off (even though I can't actually give it to him), but easy does it, so I'd like to set a target of just £1600 for now. We have to spend a lot on the house first to meet the legal requirements, not to mention find tenants, so I need to ensure I set an achievable goal. There's also a small matter of having had to leave a message with our plumber as our boiler has decided to pack up today! If it's ok, I'll revise the figure later on if circumstances change?

I'm up to £500 at the moment but get paid on Thursday so I'll update sig and spreadsheet then. I'm also now moving in a few months so have set up a separate pot for that so between that and the car we'll see how close I can get to my targetSave £6k in 2013 member 168 £1187/60000
