  • Well I've just made a start (every little helps) and just reserved "The Killing" from the local library for free rather than pay £45 for a boxed set!

    Hi 2012Saver

This is similar to my plan with the extra money, :D I think it will work, I just need to stay motivated, I do tend to lose my motivation where selling is concerned, and spend far more on eBay than I earn :-)

    Here's to a profitable 2013:beer:

    Hi Paddles

I'm determined not to spend on eBay this year and will transfer any earnings straight into my back account, it's too tempting when they sit in paypal to think of it as "not real money"!

Your savings total from last year is impressive so I have no doubt you'll reach your target this year.

Good luck and happy new year everyone!

Some xmas money came through late, so £125 into savings :)

Unfortunately, the SO I've set up for money to transfer from my current account to my savings account every month came out early because of the bank holiday, so this month's can't count :P

Well thats my first ebay sales put on for 2013, start as you mean to go on and all that.

Also put more money into my ISA today to max it out for the 2012 allocation...whoop whoop, its been quite a few years since I've been able to do that, house purchasing just sucks you dry doesn't it!?

So now I'm looking for a decent instant access savings account...not much out there is there...

thanks Saver2012 although I must admit a lot of that was from a savings scheme maturing - still I didn't spend it right?

till haven't saved anything yet this year, I really want to just so I have but then we'll just be living on credit cards until payday so it would be pointless... anyone else got an urge to save or is it just me :rotfl:

This challenge only forms part of my overall savings goal over the next 4 years, but hopefully this longer term view will allow me save in more than just cash (and more importantly, make a decent return).

Thus, I hope frittering £580 on bullion coins this afternoon will prove a better decision than walking from Waterloo to Paddington in the early hours :(

Could I be signed up for £6000? I'd say 12k but I'm on maternity leave for 6 months and that'll be less than my wages!

Just been adding up last years savings and managed to save £9571.79 in 2012. Pleased with this as had no target last year just wanted to save as much as possible. Have joined this thread for 2013 for extra motivation and hoping to save £10,000. Looking forward to reading about other peoples saving to keep me on track.

Keen to get going this month but a bit skint after xmas and 3 weeks left until payday so have to be patient just now and try not to spend too much. Car to MOT too :(

    Happy new year all !

It is a lot...but it can be done!

Ive lowered my take home pay to £16k due to pension contributions but there're different ways to make up the money. I get £4200 by renting out my spare room and little extras through mystery shopping and take advantage of freebies and selling old stuff I no longer use.

It's like a 2nd full time job, money saving!
