Hi, can I join in for the saving challenge for 2013 please?
Have always dipped in and out of forum over last few months, but caught up with lots of hospital stays with hubby last 16months:(
Have always managed to complete a full cash Isa each year, think I can manage about 10k - if I cut down on buying flowers every time I go shopping

Nice to 'see' a few old faces on here and welcome new ones!
I am hopeful and optimistic about 2013 and feel positive about saving. I wonder what resolutions fellow savers have regarding this challenge?

I am going to...

- make sure we all carry on taking flasks and packed lunches to work/school

- Try and space out present buying throughout the year especially for xmas

- also saving £25 per month for next xmas (separate to this challenge)

- Continue going to Ald! for my weekly shop and taking advantage of the £5 off a £35 spend when it pops up in the newspapers

- Keep an eye open in charity shops for bargains, slim picking these days though...

- Don't buy anything unless we really need it!

- Judicious use of food, leftovers etc

- Having holidays in England this year, booked a cottage which we know will be nice and just have a relaxing time together as a family

- A little helpful tip is when you are doing your budgetting for the month, round up bills eg insurance £37.10 round it up to £40 and then save the £2.90 as you have already 'spent' it. When you do this for every bill and then multiply by 12 it all adds up and is a lazy way of saving and easier as it is quicker to tot up your budget!

Count me in for the full 12,000. I plan on buying my first house in 2013 so this will be a great way to stay on target

Saved over £15,000 last year (mostly courtesy of a nice PPI payout). Won't do that this year but have now got savings bug. Count me in for say £6,000 for 2013.
