  • I too hope there is another challenge in 2014. My savings have gone to pot this year after a major splurge in the summer. I am just getting back on track now. I have opened a nationwide flex direct account to maximise interest on at least some of my savings.
  • Im sure we will be back in 2014 these threads are always great for motivation and keeping track of savings, im just shy of £15k target i set myself for the year, will be aiming for same amount next year so have over £20k this time next year, bring it on, feel like finally making progress.

I am taking Little Miss Gap on a not so little holiday next year so if we do this again my target would be not so big (not that it was that big in the first place). I would also be aiming around the £500 mark. Thing is, I would be saving £300 per month towards the holiday (planned for July) and then for the rest of the year the £300 monthly payments will be going towards mortgage overpayment. I have about £40 per month spare after that which is what I would save to the £12k challenge.

    *ponders*
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

I shall just hit my savings target this year.

After a year of hard saving and hardly buying anything for myself, I'm going to buy an Xbox One on Friday. After Christmas I'll be back in full on saving mode :D

Good luck for the rest of the year everyone!

Well done matttye! Great to see some people are doing so well. Glad to see you are still going to reward yourself though.

With Xmas, a new car and holiday money I'm not starting the savings mission until 2014, but I will be watching what I'm doing!
