    Hi Everyone,

This is a fabulous time of year for the Thread isn't it, with quite a few people reaching their targets for the year early. Really exciting, congratulations to those who are staying the course with their savings, no matter how large or small the amount it all counts!

I'm declaring £1312 for this month, deposit paid for holiday in the sun next February so I'm already looking forward to that! That takes me over the 12k mark, but I'll keep going up to the end of year and see where I can get to.

I am now up to £9,560 for the year - I should hit my target in four weeks time.

Feeling very pleased with myself for getting this far, I will continue to see if I can get to £11,000 by the end of 2013.

That will be a challenge, but I'll give it a good go.:o

    Well done all!

£978.24 tucked away in savings to start off a wet and windy November :D

I've been behind target on this challenge pretty much since day one as I focused on clearing off some debt in the first few months of the year, but have been catching up for a few months now and I'm now only a couple of hundred quid behind where I should be. There's still some more savings to come, so November will be the month that I finally get ahead of the game :T

Thanks to the inspiration of this thread to kick-start hardcore saving this year, and passing the £10k saved back in August...

Im just about to blow it all on a house deposit as our offer has been accepted :D

  • You are all such an inspiration and have all done so incredibly well! I have just upped my debt repayments by £450 per month so still on track to be debt free by April 2015 so I can then pop onto this thread :-)

Well done and keep up the good work all

Hello all! Firstly, congratulations to those who have hit their targets! Well done! And thank you to slowlyfading for updating everything and keeping things going :) it's been great to have a place to record my savings and help motivate me.

My total for October was £900, very pleased with that. One of my better months. I don't think I'll hit the £12k mark this year but so far I've saved £8000 (I believe?) which I'm very happy with!
  • Wow, the numbers are really adding up here! Well done All!

I am logging on to record another saving of $500 last month. October was very expensive as all the kids' after school clubs started up again, so we have to dig deep for the money for piano, karate, ice-skating, ballet etc etc bloomin etc. We will get the money refunded through our tax code at the end of the tax year, but it is still a lot of money to come up with in one month.

The only way I could save any month for this challenge was to re-examine the grocery bill - gone are the crisps, the puddings and baked goods for the next few weeks. It's gonna be fruits and veggies all the way - cheaper and better for the family too. Bet you can hear the little ones complaining over in England - mwah ha ha! Mebbee I'll be a nice Mum and let them choose whatever they want to eat on Sundays. They looked at me as if I had two heads when I suggested eating more of the fresh stuff - they seem to have forgotten that they have enough Trick or Treat Candy to last them til the end of the year!

    Have a good month y'all x

£300 stashed away this month so far, small amount I know but its stacked against me this month and my long term student decided to leave as I am an unmarried mother-her family weren't comfortable with her staying. Oh well.

Back to ebay and surveys to make extra £££
    £20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**
