October Payday! I've tried updating for October and for some reason the page won't open so if any admin are reading could you update my totals to saving £1,550 in October! This means I have smashed my £12k target for 2013.
I didn't end up spending half the budget for various things in New York so happy that I have been able to keep more in the savings account. We have one more holiday at The Watergate Bay Hotel for the first week in December for a few days, a nice bit of R & R prior to Christmas. A couple of sensible months and a decent Christmas bonus from work (fingers crossed) will hopefully provide a good couple of months saving upto the ends of the year and a good start to 2014.

Hi all,
Payday today and I have added £1,200 to the pot :T!
Only 2 more months to go until the final countdown. Next month is "overpay the mortgage" for me so I will probably only add a modest amount to my savings then. I am immensely proud that my mortgage is tumbling and my savings are rising, thanks in the main to all of you, despite several expensive trips abroad.
Keep saving and smiling:D:D:D:D!

Payday for me too and £720.30 added to ISA which brings my total up to £4084.74 so far. Looks like I'm going to struggle to make £5K by Dec 31st but will try.
Now while this is no where near the £13k I suggested at the start of the year, I'm still happy .... it's savings which I have NEVER had.
Roll on next year as:
1) The first 2 or 3 months this year still included CC payoff so should have at least £2K extra to add.
2) I get about £7K of work scheme shares (SIPS/BAYE & SAYE) that fulfil each year and this will be the first that I do not spend or put to CC straight away. Although I may not add these to the SAVING challenge they will certainely be added to the House Deposit total.0 -

Cydney, crossing all my appendages for a speedy recovery for dad.
My DD2 is expecting a little girl at the end of February and the twins (now almost 4 months old) are being christened on 10 November. It is such a pity that it takes a plane ride to get to see them. These are very exciting times, enjoy the scan of your new grandbaby. Move over, George:D:D:D:D:D!!

£1200.31 for me in October, so up to £10,624 overall. Not as good as the last two months, but still my third-best month of the year and although I'm still a touch behind where I should be I'm confident now that I'll make it to £13k by December.
Good news is that I've just secured a promotion and decent pay rise at work, so will be more to go towards the challenge next year0 -
Hi folks, I am still saving though not likely to meet my goal of £15k by the end of the year due to a major splurge in July and August while on holiday (including extending the holiday by 3 nights!!).
Current savings are just over £6k - this is split between an emergency savings account and a 'new car' savings account. I am aiming to have the emergency savings account at around £10k by end Feb 2014 and the new car account at around £10k in 3 - 5 years time (saving up so there is cash set aside if/when we need it since both cars died on us this year and obliterated the initial years savings having to buy new (to us) cars - I don't want this to happen again hence cash set aside for this).
Once the emergency fund is built up I aim to start saving for long term security. I would love to see a six figure sum in my savings so my goal after this is to save a six figure sum within the next six years. I will defo be joining the challenge properly again next year.
Thanks SF for setting up and running the thread. Congrats to all who have smashed or are almost at their goal.0
