£300 stashed away this month so far, small amount I know but its stacked against me this month and my long term student decided to leave as I am an unmarried mother-her family weren't comfortable with her staying. Oh well.

Weird. How old-fashioned and odd. At least you made some savings this month.:)

She was muslim, I expected it to be honest as it happened a lot when I was in Sri Lanka last month.

No great shakes, house to ourselves, eating out the freezer and being generally frugal. I still haven't put the heating on yet ;)

Redoing my soa this month to try and keep on track with my saving. So it's back to £50 spends and logging everything I pay out.

I've applied, and been accepted, for a Luma card from Capital One, with 4% cashback on food and petrol. Just waiting for it to arrive now so I can sort out the direct debit to pay it in full each month. This will be my first ever cashback cc and I'm a bit excited to be making money out of the banks lol!

Still saving, but it's getting hard now with xmas on the horizon.

Im quite excited, today I will find out if I can have the first year of my degree refunded :D When I paid full whack and signed up, there were no grants available for this particular course. Suddenly, 2 months later, grants are available so Ive applied for a refund. If I do get it that's a tasty £1265 back; £465 back into the savings and £800 off the CC. Ive made 2x £200 payments to the CC since starting so Ill put the money straight back into me savings :)

    Hi everyone,

    Fantastic results on this thread.

I normally dread Christmas as it is so expensive, but whilst cleaning out my bedside table last week I found £150 gift vouchers for John Lewis that a colleague gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. Got a lot of my shopping done and this boost certainly helped !

Am off to Germany for the twins' christening this weekend. Unfortunately it is only for the weekend - I have no more leave left :(:(:(:(:(!

Happy saving everyone and once again thank you very much to slowlyfading for looking after all of us. We really do appreciate it.

    All the best,

Ive been reading the MFW threads as its a bit more active than these threads and the same principle is still there. Ive taken to doing daily TTs, (Tilly Tidies) whereby you sweep any straggling pennies in your account, to the nearest £1, into a savings account. Ive been doing this since beginning November and Ive saved £15 without trying. I know its not much but I like to feel that Im contributing daily to the savings pot and this helps :)

Similar here Nat. I round down my weekly tax credit and sweep the £1.87 across to savings, I sweep the £1.20 across from child benefit every 4 weeks and I sweep across the £5 reward from bank account at the start of each month. That is £13.68 per month for doing next to nothing. In a month that has 5 Wednesdays (tax credit day) it is £15.55! I can't do more TTs than that as every other penny is accounted for.
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000
