  • Well done everyone! This month's target was a whopping (for me) £600, and unbeknownst to me how I did it, I made £602.35! Takes my total for the year to over £5,000, and am hoping that £5,500 is possible by the end of the year :)

  • Good morning everyone, I'm declaring £731.39 for November bringing my total to £10,009.05... I've reached my original target!! Just got to save £990.95 and I'll reach my new target of £11,000 by the end of December......yippee!!

And in the next few months it'll all be gone on a house deposit..... it'll be pretty hard handing all that over, its nice to see that amount of money in my account :-(.. but hey ho that's what I was saving for I suppose!!

Nothing to declare this month. I did put £300 away but then spent £300 on new furniture and house stuff. Also I was silly enough to tell OH I would by the new Xbox for him when it came out, so had to part with about £500 for that and games etc. Still a few more bits to get before baby is due in Dec!

Doubt I will declare anything for Dec either as I am starting my mat leave now, so will most likely be using what I have saved to survive the next year! O well, it's what I have been saving for anyway.

Well done to everyone else :)

Am not declaring anything for this month. It's been expensive - we had some electric work done on the house. It was always planned for some point, but a couple of areas had dangerous wiring so we moved the work forward into this month.

Also had a dental bill and did Christmas shopping. So yeah, nothing really to declare this month.

As of today, I have reached my target of £10,000!

    :j :j :j :j :j :j :rotfl:

I am declaring a savings total of £10,360 for this year. I am really pleased that I have managed to do this, using regular saver accounts has really helped me and I actually have a full Cash ISA now for the first time in my life.

I am definitely up for doing this in 2014 - will set myself a higher target next year, perhaps £15,000 or even £20,000!!! :T

  • Hi everyone, I'm declaring £1584 this month. Pretty pleased with that, as I've had a few unexpected bills this month: electricity bill for no1 son's uni flat, no.2 son lost his house keys which had to be replaced, car's oil warning light came on, and for some reason we spent huge amounts on petrol (still trying to figure that one out...). Next month is not looking pretty in my budget spreadsheet: the balance to pay on our winter hols... and the dreaded xmas expenses of course! Determined to push a little more into the savings pot though...even if just a few quid.

And I'm definitely up for doing it all again in 2014!

    Happy saving everyone.

  • Congratulations to everyone who successfully met (or exceeded!) their 2013 goals. A very well done to you all but also to those who, like me, didn't quite make it but persevered and did their best any way!

I've just submitted my update which brings me to £2075 of my £3600 goal. Unfortunately most of it is already earmarked to clear the balance of my 0% interest credit card which I had to use earlier in the year for some private dental work. I know it's cheating but it was much nicer to look at it as savings than just seeing it disappear into the ether to clear the debt, and the card being interest free enabled me to manipulate it in this way. I will be clearing the c/card in it's entirety though in the next week or two, so look forward to starting with a clean slate in January. It's been a tricky year with unexpected expenses resulting from dental issues, then followed by problems with my late dad's house which my sister & I chose to let out earlier this year. 1 problem has been fixed and paid for, but we have another problem to sort which we're literally just awaiting quotes for. I think I'll set a much more realistic goal for 2014 and keep increasing it if I manage to do well (yes, I mean I'll be playing mind games with myself, but the good kind! lol).

  • I have a confession to admit to, I have been so busy with work I completely forgot that it was payday on Wednesday! I just randomly logged onto my Internet banking to see I had been paid!

As usual we have managed to save £500 each into the 'New House' fund, I have saved my usual £250 into my regular saver and I have also managed to save £500 additional this month so a grand total of £1750 for November.

A bit of exciting news, we have accepted an offer on our house! So hopefully that will go through in the new year. Tenants have moved out of my other property so we are going to move into there whilst we search for a new house. Obviously with one less mortgage to pay over the next few months we should be able to save even more in 2014!
