Hello All! :j
Well after a stupendously, sunny summer here in Vancouver, I can finally sit down and add up my numbers. Due to my straitened circumstances while taking Maternity Leave, I am still only managing to save $500/month...but that's better than owing money, which is what used to happen with the ole credit cards up to last year.
I did have a student to stay with us during the summer, but I have been to lazy to book another one! The money was lovely, but I have really kicked back and relaxed since going on mat leave. I am still clipping coupons and my kids are wearing hand me downs or I am making clothes for them, but that is as far as I have gone.
I shall be returning to work in the New Year and while part of me is dreading rejoining the rat race, the little MSE flame is igniting. I really want to work on getting rid of the mortgage next. There will be no more babies for me, but it would be nice to save up for a holiday for the family that includes beds and not sleeping bags on the hard ground - ha ha! :rotfl:

Another spreadsheet update this morning, lots of good numbers being submitted!
Just a word to anyone who thinks that what they're saving isn't enough - saving anything is better than nothing and everyone is doing fabI don't think I'll meet my target now, unless a miracle happens, but I'm happy just managing to save anything at all

OK, end of September update from me! Sorry it's late.
I managed to save £1,404 in September, which I'm delighted with.So my new total is £71,531! I'm getting back on track. I've saved £9,331 so far this year - an average of £1,036 per month.
I'll be booking a holiday soon, which will mean that I might not quite hit my target, but ya gotta live too!
Anyway, I'm doing well imho, considering that I split with my OH recently and am now paying twice what I was on bills. So if I get anywhere near £75,000 by the end of the year I'll be well chuffed.

Money saving has been slow but steady this year, with things improving at the end of the year wont hit my £6000 target but hopefully hit at least half. I don't count what I save in my stocks and share isa as I see that a next egg for retirement.
everyone is doing a great job saving as long as your saving is going up even by a few pounds its better then going down a few pounds good luck all0 -
I've updated my spreadsheet entry today, I had to do Feb-August in a single lump, although actually it was seven equal instalments. September I did separately as it was a bit less due to going on holiday. I think I'm on track for my £12k per annum, but my personal savings year runs April to March, so I might get to December and re-think that one as it's getting complicated. Ultimately I want to get to £30k saved by December 2014. But I'll wait until the spreadsheet is refreshed for 2014 before I re-jig my savings goals.0

I've updated my savings for July-September. I'm actually quite amazed at how much I've saved since January. I've actually liked having a spreadsheet, it let's you look back on your progress!
Although one thing I haven't done is the "savings fountain". I've tried to put the money I'm going need in the near future in a normal savings account, then I have money going into a regular saver (3.2% after tax), then the remainder of money goes into my ISA.
So in fact, I haven't actually maxed out my ISA allowance for this year.
Do you guys manage to use the "savings fountain" successfully?Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
Well mot is giving me a £220 ish bill, not bad as last year had new clutch steering column and new brakes all round, that was a bit more than £220!! But iv opened up my massive coin booze bottle and have £630!!!! Will try and get it bagged up and banked this week! Was delighted when I counted it all out. At about £12,000 now but got this months expenses to come out, another pay at end of this month and this £630 in coins. Roughly worked out should be at £12,500 by end of October. Aim was £15,000 and I think I'm going to make it
I have a weather depending job and we are hearing on news the worst ever winter is on its way so these savings will more than help!! Even taking out £9,000 and including new debt repayments, £6,000 will cover the first four months of next years expenses so everything I make that 4 months will be saved!! Finally on this savings wagon and iv definitely got the bug for it!!!

hi all! back from holiday, had an amazing time and didnt overspend outside the budget
Like most my mot/ins was due end of september and I managed to halve my insurance compared to last year but sadly the saving was lost(and then some) by buying new tyres as mine were *just* above the legal limit! Ive also had to buy a new laptop for my degree, its cost a reasonable amout and it was sorely needed as my course is almost completley digital.
anyway, hope youre all keeping well and the spreadsheet is looking very healthy! I have students arriving next week so hopefully i will be able to add something then.£20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0 -
Hello everyone,
I am quite chuffed with my savings progress so far, I am on target to reach £10,000 by Christmas.
I have managed to save £2,300 in the last two months so I am now up to £8,460. Only £1,540 to go and just under 78 days left to do it in.
If I pull my finger out a bit, I may be able to get over £10,000 by December 31st, but we'll see. I have birthdays and Christmas to deal with before then...
Congrats to everyone on their progress, big or small. It all matters and is better than saving nothing at all.No. 47 Save £12k in 2018: £ ( %)
