  • Hi everyone :D

I havent posted on here in forever. Haven't really been able to save much either as the baby is due next Monday! WOOHOO! But we are well organised, nursery is ready etc. Literally just waiting on him coming now.

Got an settlement offer from the solicitor from the car accident we had in March, £4300 each, So we have decided to put £6000 into savings straight away, which will do towards our house deposit in the next year or 2 then the other £1300 each can go on whatever we want. I have a new passport to get, plus some new clothes, we havent spent a penny on ourselves since we found out my partner was pregnant, well we've had to buy her new clothes, the poor wee pet has went from 8st to 11st.

So in the next few weeks we should have £6000 in savings and when baby G comes along we can start saving towards his future too.

I've missed you all, im glad to be back.

    JCG

    xx

Yay. Reached my target. Just need to update spreadsheet. I took the sensible option and saved instead of buying the boots -
Which I will be getting next month.

Off to update the spreadsheet now.

Hit the £6k mark now. Very nearly at my goal :D

Would've been higher but just had to pay out for a year's car insurance, so I'm only £400 higher than last month.

The urge to buy expensive stuff is strong but I've resisted it so far... I might treat myself to something at Christmas once I've hit my goal so that I don't go insane :p
    What will your verse be?

  • £1100 saved this month - just 3 months to go in this challenge!

Expensive three months though - both my and the boyfriend's birthdays, a short break and Christmas!

Well done everyone on the savings so far.

  • Just registered to this forum. I look forward to participating in next years challenge. I hope to go for the full £12k, but as I am only an apprentice that may be a little unreasonable on my present salary.

From Oct 1st - Dec 31st I hope to add an extra £2500 onto my present savings of £10k. I am working as much as they allow me, including weekends.

Last of the expected savings done this month, so unless something very surprising happens the total is £2039.72 for September and £9423.74 for the year to date. That's a touch over £300 behind where I should be, but the closest i've been to being 'on track' all year :D

I seem to be determined to make it hard for myself though; my regular saver finished this month and i've started a new one up, but the new one is targeted at building up a car replacement fund. I can't bring myself to count money I have plans to spend as savings, so that's now £300 a month (or £1200 by the end of the year) that's not going towards my £13k.

Without that it's going to be a big stretch to hit the final target, as October looks an expensive month, but here goes anyway :)
