    Tara,

I spent £6,500 on my teeth last year and it was the best money I ever spent. I had a car accident in South Africa some years ago with resultant problems with my gums. Now I have the most beautiful teeth and just love to flash them :D:D:D:D:D! I had mine done in Budapest and going there saved me some £12,000. Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you so go for it if it means a lot to you.:A!!

I agree with nat21luv. Set up a separate pot to save just for your teeth and add to both. That way you will save and get great teeth!

    All the best,
I also have plans for dental work but holding out until end of 2014 going to take paid holidays and get it done. I reckon I'd be over £2,000 but like last post says, smile/teeth one of first things people will notice!

You've convinced me to go for it :D I always notice a nice smile, so why not spend a bit of money on my own!

It's my two front teeth, they're fine but one is starting to move and it looks a little wonky! I was hoping that Invisalign might sort them out. Apparently it's not THAT dear if you're only having top or bottom done. I'll call tomorrow and investigate :)

nat21luv - good idea, I like the notion of a separate pot for it

  • Reason iv put off my dental expense is i have now, since my last post, taken on £20,763.96 of debt!! On top of my mortgage  Although iv plans in place to pay it off by end of 2014(or at least have all the funds in place to do so) Cash flow between now and the end of 2013 will be strictly required expenses only. Only outgoing bar the regular direct debits and fuel i have to come is mot in October and that should *fingers crossed* be it till next year anyway!!

Will go from having about £11k in main account to £2k as im using £9k at end of this month along with the £20k!! So will need to get building it back up as soon as i possibly can. Will hope to end on a high with £1k+ a month for the last 3 months. Im going to be around alot more as MSE is one of my favourite cheap hobbies!!:money:

    Hi,

I had a very bad car accident and took a lot of trauma to my face. My dentist at the time told me that my upper teeth would become mobile quite quickly and they did. So, I had an all-on-six bridge fitted. What that means is that they fitted six implants and attached an entire bridge to my upper gum. Here in the UK it is generally done as all-on-four and costs around £12,000, excluding all the x-rays etc. which add another £3,000 to £4,0000 to the bill. I had six implants done and the cheapest quote I got here in the UK was £18,000 all in. As soon as the final bridge was fitted (you wear a temporary bridge for about 4 months or so to give your gums a chance to heal) I was able to bite with no pain at all. Teeth look fantastic and are very comfortable. I can't stop grinning :D:D!

I now need, at some stage, to muster up the courage (it was quite painful when they worked on my top gums) to have the bottom done, although the bottom jaw was not as badly affected. After the accident they had to extract some teeth at the bottom to fit steel plates in my jaw .... all sounds terrible, and it was at the time, but now you would never guess that I went through such trauma, bar some faint scaring on my lower jaw. Thank goodness for the medical profession:T:T:T:T!

  • Hi

I have struggled to stay on this challenge as finances have been poor for the last few months. I have managed to save a little bit though but nothing like what I needed to reach my target. I have £2313.34/£5,000 so far so at least it is better than nothing. I have completed the backlog of sheets for the spreadsheet and so sorry for not keeping up with things.

Hopefully I will be back on track for the rest of the year and I may change my target to just £3k. Will try again next year.

    Thanks

Keep going, new leaf 88. You have a substantial amount saved :T, well done. I am constantly amazed at how people manage to save whilst under enormous pressure to stay afloat.

I'm so sorry about your accident, but I'm very glad that you've had such excellent treatment for it. As you say, teeth are so important. You saved a fortune too!! :)

Oh such a bad month for saving. I know I've managed £500 or so but I'm having to divert savings now to pay out for a train ticket as dad has had a fall and is back in hospital :( Also need to pay for this blooming pushchair (arrrgh DD2 cannot make up her mind and then informs me that she has an eye on one which is £475  noooooo! Am desperately trying to find others she might like). DD1 has gone back to uni and is going through her money like water and now I've lost my glasses. Thank God for Martin and his Glasses Direct code!

£4500 is looking a long way away at the moment.

edit: Savings this month down to £306.06 as we have bought the pushchair!
