  • First pay cheque of my new job means I have broken the £10,000 savings pot mark, not bad aged 18 :j. Just invested 4K into a stocks and shares ISA, hopefully time to achieve a better return than the 2.25% on my cash ISA :).

Hello! I haven't had the chance to keep up with this thread, but I've just updated via the form for my August savings. Managed to save £700 :) don't think I'll reach the 12k this year, but I'll keep trying my best because you never know!!

So, last month I spent £700 on various bits and bobs, all legit, no frivolous spending. Well, I kept my head down and I've managed to put back the £700 plus £32 :D so £32 added to my target :D that £32 has not only pushed up my total to its highest amount this year, it is also made it the most money I have ever saved in my life! Sounds rediculous I know as its only £3808 but its been a tough adult life! Here's to this month bringing another new record
    £20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**
  • Bit of a setback, down from £11,000 to £10,000....still feel I can pick things up for September and get near the £12k by end of this month! Horrendous weather today so weekend off and back to work Monday for 5 weeks of 70 hour weeks but thinking of the money and alcohol detox it will be brilliant!

You are up early for a Saturday :D:D:D! Don't worry about setbacks, they happen! You have still saved a considerable amount, well done.

Got my morgage statement today - reduced by £12,000+ since last December. I am well pleased :j:j:j

    Have a great weekend,

Wake up the back of 6 everyday, most mornings wake up about 20 minutes before my half 6 alarm!! Switched off alarm last night but was still up at half 6! Nightmare if not working as not much can do with all that day ahead without spending!! 2 setbacks in as many months though, could do without anymore!!

I would get a penalty for overpaying that much as balance started at £100k in December when bought and can only overpay 10%!! Thats very good going though, you will save half that in interest!!

Checked today and once credit card off and bills off + 2 incoming pays, will end up at about £11,600+ end of the month if no more setbacks, il be happy with that. October will be my last good month of the year income wise but for November and December my expenses go down so if i can get average of £1,800 away il be finishing at £16,000ish!! So time to detox.

  • Hi all,

been a pretty rubbish updater recently! I've moved jobs moved flats and had a fair number of additional expenses associated with them. I have only just got up to date with last months finances so my total in the last 2 months is a whopping £166.69. Not brilliant, but I have already reached my target and hopefully will be on track again from now! (apart from the £1000 travelcard I just bought :( )

  • Well £100 into S&S ISA and some odds and sods skimmed off the current account to savings.

Feel really bad this month as autumn/winter has arrived early in Cumbria and I badly needed warm clothes-I have a medical condition which means my blood doesn't flow very well leaving me feeling the cold. So have had to order clothes, which has depleted my emergency fund; will need to replace that. As some of it was put on the credit card, it will come out of next month's money too so will be a bit strapped come Oct :o

Oh well at least I'm sitting here snug as a bug!

  • Hi,

I haven't posted in here for a while. After spending a good chuck of what I had saved, I've now back on track, currently saved £6000 of £10,000. I would have already reached that target If I didn't have my car problems. I think a new target of £8,500 is achievable but will be hard.

Also looking at buying my first property, so I'm chuffed to bits.
