  • Well done everyone, great achievements on here ....
September and October will be savings months for me again. Every 3 months I pile a lump of cash into the mortgage so that I end up saving cash and at the same time clear the mortgage. Gotta take advantge of the low interest rates :D:D.

Well done to all of you. You are all truly inspirational.

    All the best,

  • Once again a huge WELL DONE to everyone saving....It does NOT matter how much or how little you add....it all helps.

I totally forgot to add £800 to June's so I've added that and am not very hopeful of saving much of Augusts pay as I have car stuff to pay for. After that I can save away!!!

  • Coop bank paid me my £100 for switching my account over, so that went into savings.

Have transferred £100 from my current account into savings plus rounded down the balance and put that over too.

£50 went into the baby fund as well.

Looking at, hopefully, putting £500 away this month yay!

Didnt put anything from my pay last month in (it came from withdrawing a sharesave instead) so this month I could put almost my whole month's pay in :)

£1500 for august for me. Was getting worried back in June that I wouldnt make the 12k target but back on track now.
  • managed another £620 this month totalling 9320 now :)

I have spent a bit on the garden though which has made me overbudget but I can sort this out at the end of the financial year its only a few quid and can soon catch up.

I have been sweeping my 2 fivers from the Halifax accounts into the isa and budget £600 into first direct regular saver and also have DD for £5 each into isas.

I am thinking of cooling down the savings after this challenge, I need to start enjoying myself! We have worked so hard over they years to pay everything off and build up a savings pot, its hard to change our mentality but we are not getting any younger and need to relax a bit.

Good luck everyone and keep saving!

  • Disappointed that I haven't done better, but am at least pleased to say I'm back up to my initial achievement, plus £10.

I don't think I'm going to get very close to my target, but I'm going to leave it as it is for motivational purposes!

Well done to everyone else for your achievements so far, especially those who've overshot already!

    *ahem*

I've broken the £70,000 barrier! Whoop! I saved £979 in August so my new total is £70,127!

That means that I've saved nearly £8,000 so far in 2013. Getting to my target of £13,000 is going to be a huge challenge, but hopefully I can do it.

A huge well done to you all xxx

  • Hi - new here, having browsed and lurked for a year or so. I'd like to sign up for the full £12k please.
January I managed to save £1100, so I am very hopeful I'll achieve it this year. Last year I managed to save £10,700, so I've upped my own ante this year.
    AaA

Obviously it's time to update my savings efforts!
From February to end August I have saved the following:
    £300 per month into a 12 months savings plan = £2,100
Previous 12 month plan expired in April realising a lump sum interest payment of £124.
£500 per month into an ISA = £3,500
£200 per month cash into a cash deposit box = £1,400
So in cold hard savings, in addition to the £1,100 I saved in January I make that a year to date total of £8,224. On track, hopefully to the £12,000 :)
