  • Hello saving people,
Sorry, I've been really quiet lately, not been able to save as much as I'd like in May...who knew being part of a wedding party and planning a holiday would be so expensive...;-)

Anyway still managed to save £230.82 in May, not that most of the booking and paying is done the next few months should be much better in terms of saving so I'll power on through the rest of 2013, so far on my cashflow spreadsheet (hehe!) I'm only £430 behind the full year target so to catch that up ove the rest of the year is totally do-able!

Keep up the good work everyone!
  • Not part of the challenge, I lurk for inspiration! Just quickly de-lurking as I've spent a good 20 minutes pottering about with this lump sum and savings calculator and thought some of you might enjoy the extra boost to morale

    Hello all

First, sending a virtual hug to cydney, so sorry about your dad. Wishing you all the best....

Second, been a while since I started this, I've had a gap between jobs, but managed to keep s/o going at £300 pm for last couple of months. All going well until OH got a lurgy & off for 2 weeks (he only gets SSP around £100 pw even after working 12 years at the same firm!).

It's a bump in the road, and now my new job is starting, should start saving more again!

Hang in there all of you, even small bits count, despite what's flying around in your RL.

    :)

Tara iv done this once or twice(with smaller amounts mind you) and it is definitly true the more accounts you have the bigger a headache it is!! Soon though i hope i have your dilemmas of finding that missplaced money/money spent but forgotten about as that outgoings seem really low rather than a problem of trying to save anything at all. My £4,500 seems like peanuts to your total, i am catching up though and will be there in 2 years :)

Thanks. I am going to go through all my accounts and add up every penny I've spent, I am really appalled that I can't figure it out.

Well done on your savings progress, £4,500 is not to be sneezed at. Many people I know don't have even a tenth of that saved. :)

Saved around 150 this month which is not bad because we have paid our holiday this month and half the christening never knew how expensive a baby is until now lol. way off our £6000 pound target but my wife is going back to uni in September so her student finance money will help boast the savings.

June pay day so announcing Mays savings.
£44.07 added to ISA. Doesn't seem a lot but had a few SIP come out too this month so I've reduced my OD down from £1750 to £1000. £250 of that was in a Barclays Additions account which I've now binned as I didn't use any of the available features which cuts by bills by £13.50 a month.

Will have the rest of the OD gone in two more months so while my Savings (House Deposit) isn't going up that much, I'm getting in a better place.

The £13K total was a bit high to be honest but you have to have a goal. The start of the year was clearing Credit Card, bit of Overdraft in the middle but I still think by the end of the year I will have saved a little under £5K which I'll still be happy with. I will not need to touch anymore of my share schemes so they will stay as shares for my long term future. Overall I'm happy.
    Spreadsheet updated.
