  • Rjrs I think you need to read your signature before making your choice....your moto is now pay your future self first...so that's what you have to do! Get rid of the car, supermarkets deliver now adays for next to nothing compared to cost of a car, especially on finance!

Allie aiming for £13k sounds do able with your surplus but doesn't give you much room for slip ups! I'm at about £6k at end of this month, I took my target from £20k down to £15k as I spent a fair bit doing my house up...so iv got £9k to go in the following 6 months after June. £1,500 a month seems very realistic!! Few nights in here and there helps a great day- a lot of pressure to go out on a weekend when 21. I'm trying to take a few months off and just have cheap nights in/bbqs!

Were you ever a member of the Reebok sports club? Looks amazing and opposite my future office, but just seen the membership cost

Yes, it is a great place and very expensive. I did a spout of boxing there ...... loved it, but decided to cut expenses and am doing Bikram Yoga at South Quay instead for half the price. Have you had a look inside? It really is amazing. It even has a rock climbing wall.

Turning into a great month, just dropped £1276.50 into savings so £1939.31 so far and at least another £900 to come once I get paid. So will be over £9k at the halfway point :D

#099 here. I haven't been around since the start of the thread. I made my £12,000 target based on our circumstances at that time, but our circumstances did what circumstances do and changed. I quit my job (it was horrible and making me ill) in February and so our savings target is now unrealistic and unachievable. I'm still here though, and still want to save.

Slowlyfading, please can you change my target to £6000 and update my total saved to £3300 please?

    Thanks

Quick question - I'm just wondering if anyone has experience of trying to transfer their ISA's within their own bank to obtain a better interest rate.

I don't know if everyone else has this issue, but it seems impossible to identify what rate of interest you're currently getting by looking at online banking (you would think this would be a simple feature to add), and it looks like I'm getting a pittance for my ISA which has been maxed out already for this year, so I'm losing the better part of £10 interest every month. I know I could get a better rate by transferring to a completely different provider, but am willing to sacrifice a small amount of interest for the convenience of having everything in one place.

When/if I remember at an appropriate time, I intend to contact them and say "if you can't offer me something better I will take my money elsewhere", and see what they have to offer.

I thought it was worth checking if anyone else has experience of this already and how you got on? I bank with HSBC btw.

    Hallo all,

Nothing added to the savings pot this month (as yet), but mortgage is tumbling down. I can't wait for my savings to overtake what is owed on my mortgage. Total savings to date are £32,500 and mortgage £117,611.11. Some way to go .......

I have been lurking but not posting with anything to declare as I'm still saving for my holiday.

Although I did find an unexpected interest payment of £30.60 on one of my halifax accounts today, so this will go in the pot :)
