I'm planning to go to New York
So excited!
Yes, very exciting. I have never been but I have friends who have. The closest I got to New York was Newark Airport. The view out of the aeroplane was pretty good though (think green stone figure on an island in the middle of the water) I loved America and I can hardly wait to go back
Started June's savings already as the cc is pretty much paid off. I can cover the rest from other monies due during the month so June starts early with 74p!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76
300 271 payments to go.House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

74p - every little helps! (Stealing Tesco's slogan here!)
I've noticed that I have £25.15 in my Quidco account to be paid to me, so waiting for that, then it will be transferred straight into my savings. Payday next week also, so will be saving some more money thenGrocery Challenge 2017: Mar - £0/£2000 -
I went to New York in 2001 and absolutely loved it. The people are so friendly and the city itself is really safe to wander around. Do all the touristy things, empire state, central park, statue of liberty, battery park etc. but also have a go on their subway system, wander around SoHo and spot all the artist types and their dogs with bandanas on. Go to Wall Street and eat in the McDonalds there. I had a great time and I would go back in a heartbeat.
It has been a busy time at cydney towers. I have been trying to sort out life assurance for me-not easy when you have medical issues-sort out my pension-the IFA was extraordinarily unhelpful-and try and work out what to do with my savings. Oh, and I opened up a S&S ISA, all a bit scary this investment stuff but I'm enjoying it.
Well done to everyone who has saved this month, even just a little bit it's all money at the end of the day. This month savings wise has been brilliant but I fear June will be a bit difficult. Still onwards and upwards.

I've got £30 tracked in my Quidco account, been waiting for it since March so it takes a while. The way I see it though is that even if it takes six months, it wasn't any more difficult or expensive to buy what I bought via Quidco, so it doesn't really matterWhat will your verse be?

So... my May target is 907.01. Wish me luck
Well done everyone. Off to update the spreadsheet.
I managed to beat my May target with a total of 1109.52, oh my April self of little faith! This mainly was down to me oversaving for my self assessment tax for the year so I had a nice little bonus.
June's target is £700 as I have no bad maths to give me a boost
So the sixth month - half way through! I hope everyone has the half way mark in sight... and if not, do not be deterred. There's still pplllennty of time to go.
For all the New Yorkers, head straight for Lombardi's. Best pizza ever. Also instead of going up the Empire State, go up the Rockefeller building then you get a nice view of the Empire StateI thought the most fun part was just walking around though and taking in the atmosphere (with occasionally blurting out the phrase "it's just how I dreamed it" :rotfl:)

Declaring for May (where the hell did that month go?!?)
£4,138.95
Taking my total so far to an awesome £12,967.65
Savings this month were made of:
£600 (2x reg savers)
£800 savings from PAYE income
£462.40 into pension from PAYE income
£2,269.87 savings from self employed income
I also paid £1,040 to HMRC in advance instead of waiting until the end of July as I had the money
Definitely a rare month, not likely to repeat that amount of savings again!I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0 -
Final total for May is £1047, which brings me up to £6155.40 for the year so far. Happy with that as it was an expensive month; touch wood, June is looking a bit better on the savings front
Oooh, a refund i'd forgotten about turned up in my current account today, so lobbed that into savings quickly before I get tempted to spend it - that's brings it up to £1109.79 for the month and £6218.19 for the year so far. Definitely a much better month than I was expecting :j:beer:0 -
£1,225 for May - off to update front spreadsheet.
Feel like I could squeeze a bit more out of it, to be honest, but saving the pennies has not been a focus lately.
Must do better!I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -
Have just sent update through unfortunately it isn't much this month just £145 but better than nothing. We have had a very expensive month, new toilet, car tax, mot and few jobs on it plus an expensive month food wise and have gone over budget by £40 on this alone.
Hope to do better in June but am on target so not to worried.
Good luck to everyone in June.MARCH £62.38/2500
