  • Sorry won't have time to catch up reading posts properly till after Christmas (been mental with preparations for my parents coming tomorrow ). Just a quick checkin. I'm on NSD 13 and might manage another 5 or so but it's a bit unpredictable with my parents coming for 5 days tomorrow (depending on what we're end up doing and eating etc), the we're going to visit friends the weekend before New Year and then are at "FIL's" over New Year. I try to keep track as I go along and keep receipts but I think the challenge is out of the window for the next 10 days. We'll see, I try :o.

Might do a wee skim of posts tonight.

I'll disapear from here propably for the next 10 days unless I get a chance to get on after Christmas or at "FIL's".

I wish you all a Merry Christmas :xmassign: and a Happy New Year, might it be a frugal, debt busting one and I wish you all the best for achieving your goals, YOU CAN DO IT!!! Cannae wait for not spending in January :j

Evening everyone, I've not been around much but I have been watching you all :D Fab progress and everything seems to be working out well for everyone (Mancman, so happy your finances got sorted - was a bit worried about that one!).

I'm busy washing and drying bedsheets (great excuse to have the heating on!) as my niece is coming to stay tomorrow. I'm so excited - we have a girly few days planned in London (also rather pleased the £80 I budgeted is still intact!).

I'm on NSD 16 so I'll probably scrape through the 20 NSD barrier by the skin of my teeth. I've not overspent this month at all, I've just been more laid back about the type of shopping I have done since there are more permitted spend days this month (thanks Kat!). I've not stressed about having to rush around and do all my spends in one day like I did in NOvember so it's been good this month. I can also categorically claim that my new shopping budget needn't be any higher than £70 (used to be £100 in my pre-kat days).

Payday tomorrow and I'm sooooo tempted to stay up and do the midnight money shuffle when it hits my bank account (especially since my Santander loan will get paid off and I can get cracking on debt number 3 :j), but I have an early start tomorrow and a long day so I think I'll climb into bed and see if I can have an early night.

I'll be lurking over the next few days, but for those who are signing off to start your holidays, I hope you have a fab time :xmassmile

Cheerleading NSD number 3 for me :D I might have had a few more but I doubt it. Nowhere near as good as what some people are achieving, but I'm pleased with it regardless :)

    Morning all :)

Just a quick one ths morning, as i am off to meet up with a friend for coffee..we only see each other once or twice a year so i dont feel too guilty.

I am now officially sorted for Christmas, everything is done so i can sit back and relax!

Abundant- well done on the promotion!!
  • :xmassign:Well a VERY Good Morning to all my little Christmas Elves... :xmassign:

.....are we READY for another splendid day? I had a little lie in today, currently being fed by Mother and had a chat with my lovely Aunt in Australia. Told her about my MSE exploits and my name so she could look me up - she said she has already heard of NSK and come across some posts already... OOOOOOH word is spreading! Lol!:T:T:T

Looks like another NSD for me but NannyGladys I am super proud of you. 12 is more than yousaid you have managed before and the month isn't even over yet! Can we get another 8 in there..? I know it will be hard but getting close is also acceptable....***shhhhhhh don't tell them all I am in a good mood*****

Abundant apologies I don't think I wrote this at all yet..CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! on the new job. This is what we like to see, when my little elves realise their worth and go for it.. get more money and get those debts paid sooner...

GelMC - I know you didn't get your job but I really believe things happen for a reason - perhaps this wasn't enough for you at all and something much better is around the corner. I know things are on the up for you so its just a matte of time.. I would like to change mine but not sure what direction to go in...

Lilt - I think your meat purchase is okay... its clearly going to stretch a LONG time and you are sorted through out January.. was it within budget though or a little outside it? And I would love a sleep-suit with cat print all over it... apparently they aren't sexy on grown women! lol!

Come on Thrifty you can make another few NSD's... You sound rushed off your feet though so looking forward to a run through of festivities..:T

Abundant - I can just imagine my Mum's face with you lot turning up! Although an MSE end of year party next year would be fun..:rotfl:..perhaps then you will be done with those rice cakes..:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Kerri - I think you should join us in January...:p

Right on that happy note... I need to get another tea made..

    Onwards and Upwards...

    Confession time!!!

Today was a planned spend day and so already had £10 put aside... I was going to go to the cinema but I still have a rotten cold and decided I needed some vitamin C... Alas - all the stuff left in my food cupboard is now dry goods pretty much, along with some cheese and milk.

I opted to spend my £10 on Fruit & Veg am afraid... Amidst the Christmas shoppers filling their baskets with all manner of goodies - I walked in - got loads of satsumas, lemons and some apples and bananas, and veg enough for some soups, along with some hummus (for garlic content!) and bread...

Am feeling bad, because on one hand... technically these are grocery items meaning I've gone over budget... On the other hand - it's good to look after myself... and I'm not over budget overall as had put aside this as spend money anyway...

Anyway - there's my confession!!! So I've amended my grocery budget (see signature) as these were additional items purchased. However - overall am still on target with my budget and will hopefully kick this cold into touch now.

    :D

  • I think that you made a good choice here. You need to look after yourself rather than sit in a possible overheated / over cooled cinema and get worse! Good choice.... Don't feel bad!

  • Abundant I personally think you made a great choice. What better way to treat yourself in both senses of the word when you are feeling ill. Good call!!:T

I am sat with pringles and a lemsip feeling a bit under the weather. Nothing a hot shower and early night won't cure I am sure. MIL has also called tonight to tell me she is ill and has been since Weds so may not be over on Xmas Eve. She's gutted. It's her first Christmas without her DS and a first with her grandchild. They are supposed to be bringing OH's nan & a dear friend with them so I hope she is feeling better!!

Kat, I have not gone over budget yet, but I have the final Xmas food shop to do tomorrow and may well do so (by a max of £20). I am going to look at it in terms of, we have made £235 extra on top of normal wages this month; on top of which I have saved £30 on xmas presents I had budgeted for, saved £26 from my night out budget and saved £24 off the planned pyjamas spend. It's our first Christmas & I want it to be perfect. I have had too many years of dotting myself all over the country with other peoples Christmases... It's my turn now, & I will enjoy it!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:and get fat:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

NSD 16 for me today. Xmas Eve & Day will be NSD's, as will Boxing Day most likely but I am thinking bread may be needed. Will be hitting the target with ease I hope!!!

Exercise - I have been doing a LOT of walking, and a heck of a lot of cleaning up. Today whilst bopping to Maroon 5 & Pink I scrubbed each & every one of the tiles in my kitchen with bleach & even used a metal scourer to clean the grout. Every cupboard was emptied, wiped down & cleaned & numerous boxes stored in my top cupboard thrown away (4 trips to the bins today!!) - it gleams!
