Good Morning MSE's, its been a while since I last checked in.
After last weeks disaster I seem to be getting back on track.
Had a great day at my aunties last week which was an NSD - I would say i have probably racked up around 10-15 NSD due to the circumstances of my account being drained. I have had all my money back into the accounts that were drained of funds - they are sending me a voucher for sainsburys for £25 in the new year to say sorry - a computer glitch meant someone emptied his recycling bin which emptied bank accounts! Scary stuff.
The car is going in for MOT/service and clean on christmas eve - why did i book it in for then? Pure stupidity on my part i believe.
The rent got paid in time. I will look at the January challenge and decide nearer the time if I can do it. Pay day on friday with a £50 christmas bonus so that is good - will go towards new car tyres before the MOT. My auntie is giving me £25 for christmas and £25 for my birthday which she forgot in November along with a £50 housewarming present all in cash so that will be a nice cheque to pay into my account in the new year. I think I will be lurking over the coming days but not able to post due to time constraints.
Merry Christmas all and a happy new year!!! heres to a frugal and money saving new year.0 -
Good afternoon DDD'ers!
So, i was supposed to meet a friend for coffee thismorning, but she cancelled, so today is another NSD
The kids are going to their dads house from Fri-Sun, so i will save some money there, as they wont be eating everything in sight!
I have 2 things to get on my Christmas food shopping list, and then i am done done done!
I need to get Lidl version of baileys, and alo a tin of quality street (has anyone noticed that these plastic tins are half the size of the old metal ones, yet still the same price!??! Rip-off!!!).
Oh..i forgot i still have to get a chicken too!
I have been losing a little weight recently, and have gone down a dress size now, but that isnt costing me anything, i saved all the clothes from when i was previously this size0 -
Well good day to you all! I have had a somewhat uneventful day wandering around my little town with Mother collecting goodies to see in the Christmas period. Mumsy is responsible for feeding 5 of us and to be fair we aren't exactly fussy eaters so it was an easy run.
We stocked up with 10 bottles of shloer cause it's a treat for all of us, Granny has bought an 18lb organic turkey (???) and I perhaps went over board with our "cheese allowance".. but we don't see each other that often and again its a treat - ahem 7 different kinds!!!:T.
Mumsy used my CC which I am okay with as she will pay it off in two weeks - despite this hitting passed my end of year target it's not my money so I don't mind - and no interest incurred.
Ma and Pa are funny - they are looking over their budget purchases as Mummy made it to Asda at 2000 the other night and got 335g of broccoli for 10p. She's chuffed with herself!
We are fore-going the Christmas crackers as they are usually a bit rubbish and all we want is the hats. We will blow up some balloons and chuck them at Granny for cheap entertainment and I shall fashion some hats from Mumsy's random stash of tissue paper. Treats all round!!
Met a girlfriend in town, spent £6.75 on sandwiches and tea so its a definitely not an NSD but money well spent. My friend sent me home with home made fudge and cupcakes - fair swap I say!:p:p:p
Right let me know what you have all been up too - no doubt it would be minimal NSD's all round but I will assume its all for a good cause..:p
Onwards and Upwards!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
MancMan - just read your post. Am so glad things have turned out okay for you. That is seriously frightening stuff with a "computer glitch" - and these people are in charge of our money?? Shocking! But the money collections sounds like a good little lump towards bills which is superb! Check in for sure - January's challenge will be a little kinder I think. Just to get people into the swing of things..
And the car booking - well at least he/she will be all shiny and new for Christmas day! Hope they send you away with a bow on top!:D
Marylea - I use cous cous on potatoes and it makes them nice and crunchy.. my cat likes yoghurt?
Gien - don't fret. It won't be like this next year. We will make sure of that!!!
Kerfuffle - I love this CC wrapped up! So funny but SUCH a good idea!!! And even better that you have resisted the temptations of nibblies but I know what its like when you want something yummy before dinner and have this image of you sat on the kitchen floor clutching your sweeties and refusing to share...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Sounds like a perfect way to spend the Christmas :rotfl:.Being a new Grandma this year is this something I have to look forward to ?
I'm currently picturing in my minds-eye your Granny looking not dis-similar to the Granny in the Andy Capp cartoons, do you know who I mean? :rotfl:
Well nothing to report about my day yet as I'm still in my pj's and as there is a weather warning in effect I have no plans to go anywhere. Very likely to be an unproductive, yet NSD for me :T

The image was less about the kitchen floor, but more me laying on the sofa with wrappers thrown around, and a greenish hue to the face.0 -
Hi everybody!!!
Today - NSD number 14 (making that 6/7 in a row!).
Just need to make tomorrow and I have a spend day to look forward to on Saturday. Hoorah! That said - have a cold coming on so may need to stay in wrapped up warm with a lemsip and a good book!!! Can't be coughing all the way through The Hobbit - will make me *very* unpopular!!!
NSK - Hope you're having an amazing time!!! Lol re you're Mum's broccoli bargain... I see where you get it from now... Thanks for all your comments and support - they're appreciated!!! I feel very looked after
Kerfuffle - Loving the CC idea too... Mine is still in my wallet and I swear it talks to be sometimes saying 'use me... use me...' Ahem!!!
Mancman - glad you're getting back on track mate!!! And £25 bonus... That should pay for the hair restorer for all the hair you pulled out last week
Gien - I'd get yourself straight in January - budget in your bills etc and don't beat yourself up for not clearing as much as you'd like. Loved what NSK said too - just think - this will be the last time you ever have to say that hopefully!!! :T
Lozzy - Have you tried eating the actual cupboard... Woodshavings/Plastic with a bit of salt and pepper may sustain you for a few days...
Kerri - You sound like an NSK clone - ha ha!!! She's taught you well... Your poor OH - bet he doesn't know what's hit him!!! "Hi Darling... I thought we could have a nice evening in... with a spreadsheet!!!"Lol.
WantToBeSE - Well done on the dress size! I also discovered yesterday I was a 29" waist (haven't been that for years!!!) - unless the trousers have been stretched beyond belief the other times I've tried to get in them lol. Clearly this frugal living is working wonders!!! Hoorah!!! Or maybe it's the vigorous (not!) exercise I've been doing everyday!!!... which actually sounds a bit rude now I've said it
Keep up the amazing work everyone too... We're all doing great!!! If I've not commented on anyone I've still read your posts and appreciate them!!! Hugs!
Have a lovely evening!!!

Well, had a couple of NSDs this week so that makes it a grand total of 4 or 5.
I get paid tomorrow plus break-up for the school hols - Wayhey!!!!
The MOT for my car is going to cost about £250 including a full service, new windscreen wipers and valeting. I've spent tonnes on it the past 18 months so I'm well pleased it's not costing me too much. I've also got to get car insurance sorted as I've put it off.
I didn't get the job I went for but the least said about that the better as I was majorly peeved.
Just gonna work out my finances for the coming month now and then go on the comparison sites to get a car insurance quote. Will do cashback too. Did those of you who signed up to LoveFilm get there cashback yet?
Good luck everyone with frugalling in the next few days x:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
