    Hi all.
Got a Christmas card today, with £10 in it :) So, i put it towards this weeks petrol money. It means i only had to withdraw £10 out of the bank instead of £20.

Was going to have chicken curry for dinner, but i forgot to defrost the chicken breast. So, then i thought i would g and buy some chicken from the supermarket...but then i found some sense, and decided to use the prawns that i have in the freezer.
So, prawn curry with nann bread and lemon rice tonight!

Also, i have had some good news on the job huntig front- i have a friend with several disabilities, and quite often (2 or 3 times a week), i go over to her house to help her wash/dress/clean her house etc. Well, i was moaning at her the other day, that i cant get any care jobs because i dont have the experience.
She said i could put her down as a reference, and out the 'work' i do for her, down on my CV :) I dont know why i hadnt thought of it before to be honest. I am hoping that'll help when applying for jobs from n ow on.

This has given me an idea for something to cook in a couple of days ( I can't do it until then as Hubby and I are on opposing shifts), how do you do your lemon rice?

I've just read Kerfuffles email and decided no more mr CC! I've just removed it from Am4zon so I no longer have access to spending on it on there. It's cash or debit card from now on!
Free lunch today and I'm not going to gymnastics, so it's a NSD :D as long as I can find something interesting to make for tea from the things in the cupboard.

    Hey Kerfuffle,

All i do is cut a lemon in half, and put 1 half into the saucepan while your rice boils. No need to do anything to do it, just put it in the saucepan and it'll flavour the rice really nicely.
Just make sure that the lemon half sits on top of the rice, cut side down, while cooking.
Just before taking the lemon half out (at the end, when the rice has boiled), it'll be all soft, just squish it against the side of the saucepan and the lovely juice will come out.
    Mix around, and DONE!

:T Yey, I'm pleased to hear it Kerri.

Credit cards are the bane of my life, actually it's not the credit card it's the statement :rotfl:, but anyway I digress, I know some people are all for the stoozing etc but to be honest I can't be bothered with that as you've got to have money in an account gaining significant interest to make it worthwhile (in my opinion anyway.)

In which case there are very few perks to using credit cards, however if I were to shop on-line regularly I would use a credit card for that as opposed to a debit card, purely in case of fraudulent use.

Example, if you have a bank account with 1000.00 in it, and 1000.00 credit limit on your credit card, then use your credit card for on-line shopping. If your debit card is pirated (sp?) they'll have access to your full 1000.00 and possibly more if your bank allows it and you'll be left with no physical cash. If your credit card is pirated they'll only have access to 1000.00 as anything over this amount will be declined. Your 1000.00 in the bank will still be safe.

I would never cut up a credit card (unless I had a ridiculous number of them, in which case I would cut them all up except one), as they do have their uses, it's all about remembering to be disciplined and not use them as a 'cash alternative', and this is sometimes my weakness, especially if I get snared by a 'bargain'

Thanks so much for this. I actually have all the ingredients :T, although the lemon is lemon slices in the freezer and the chopped up lemon rind that I was saving for when I freshened up my microwave. But it'll do :rotfl:

No, I don't have any disciples either, my Hubby does his best but..............

.......now discipline, sometimes I have it sometimes I don't ;)

2013 is a new year for all of us, I'm sure we're all going to be trying harder.:)

Hehehe, i LOVE rice, and love adding things to it to make it different, especially when making a rice salad.
I have lemon, ginger and tumeric rice, chilli rice, garlic and nutmeg rice, coriander and lime rice recipes, all from Jamie Olivers 'Ministry of Food' book.
  • Well I am a very happy Candy!

I have just paid off 2 yes 2, overdrafts!!! :j so thats £650 gone woohoo! I am ending 2012 as I mean 2013 to start.

I am currently up to NSD 8. Had a lovely meal yesterday all paid for by vouchers do not a penny spent by me :p

I have decided that any Christmas money I get will go into a little envelope to keep it separate from any debt repayment money so that I can use it for little treats :)

    Candy

can I join you as a lurker , with a view to joining the January installment if there is one. We are so skint, our salary has gone on bills and DDs and CCs about 2 days after we receive it so we need to survive on fresh air and store cupboards next month (and the rest of this month to be honest, but I have got my Christmas shopping in at least).
I haven't been this short for years - just a really nasty set of circumstances coming together but I'm sure we'll survive!
    Trying to keep in budget.
