Hey All,
How's everyone doing...?
WantToBeSE - am sure something will turn up... I am a firm believer in positive affirmations and visualisations... Be positive and trust that the right opportunity is coming your way. Keep checking adverts and put yourself out there...
PS. What does the SE mean in your name...? Self-Employed? Am just being nosey!!!
Marylea - Will get in touch with approved food... Looks like a great site - and has the MSE stamp of approval so can't go wrong!!!
OMG - The Hobbit is out!!! I forgot it was due now!!! Whoop!!! Can't wait - might go on one of my planned spend days - Think I have some own brand 50p tortilla chips i can smuggle in and some fizzy water
Today = NSD number 11
Am going to revisit my budget *again* as am pondering joining NSK's clear debt by end of 2013 again... Is it possible??? Will I die trying lol!!! Can I live on a shoestring budget for 12 months???
Kat - when you are debt free - you going stay where you are (house sharing with moggy) and save oodles more money - or you going to get yourself a flat on your own? Am thinking am going to stay house sharing for an extra 2 years and save an emergency fund + 6 months worth of wages + £1000 for each of my neice/nephews for when they reach 18 or 21... Slightly off topic - but good to know where we're all heading!!!
Back to DecemberDebtDestruction- Am on my 'in-a-row' challenge - on number 3 and aiming for 7-in-a-row... so next spend day not until 22/12/12! EEEeeep
Few more coins went in the Money Tin yesterday - must be £5 in there now... Only another £495 until it's full LOL...
Have a nice evening everyone!!!

Thank you for the hints & tips everyone
I've been writing everything down for the past week, I have a SOA and I also have my own DFW diary, so going to keep going for the rest of the month and see how things pan out. Then come payday I'll work out my budget and get on the envelopes. I'll have to get the OH on board somehow...

P.S
Is great to have all of these new people wanting to join up in January... I appreciate the cheerleading too!!! The more of us there are - the more momentum we gather as a group!
I'd say start thinking about how much you want for a grocery budget, spends etc. I did a mock spend online (at different supermarkets) to see what I could buy for my money... I could be even thriftier as I tend to just shop in a few of the bigger stores - but I should perhaps give Lidl and Alde a go... and there's Approved Food that Marylea suggested that looks good...
You'll find it's a work in progress - you'll get to the end of Jan and see what worked and what didn't and adjust accordingly... It's good fun though!!!
PPS. Less than half a pack of rice cakes left!!! :T:T:T

Thanks Abundant, i am maintaining my positivityJust!
Yes, the SE means self-employed. Its going to be a long road, as i will need to save £9000 for the training to do it, but i want to be a psychotherapist.
I have wanted to train as one for years, but have never seen how i could save the money for training, and then the government put the fees up and withdrew all of the funding, which means its going to be even harder.
Thats the reason behind me wanting to become debt free and save as much as i can
Hows the new place working out- you all settled in yet?0 -
Started my new job today - yeyyy. Spent £3.50 on lunch - boooo. I already have lunch for tomorrow prepped though so I won't be making that mistake again.
Also had a spend day on saturday - spent £10 on a panto ticket and £10.95 on drinks after. Have updated my sig accordingly and still within budget - for now. I reckon i have another £10 for xmas spends and then £15 for social. Should have a couple of NSD's coming up and still hoping to hit my target.1% at a time challenge member #127

Oh good grief I want my bed! ....Prior Plannin Prevents Pi** Poor Performance... I didn't think ahead regarding tomorrows travel and food required hence I had to go to the stinking little money-grabbing Tesco express near my house... with cat litter and food, a few bits to prevent me starving to death tomorrow it came to a grand total of £13.50 although £5.75 of that was cat biscuits/ pouches of food that were reduced and litter. ... Still annoyed!!! ...
AND food at work cost me a grand total of £5.35... aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Ahem... I shall re-coup this by the way. I need sleep now... I cannot reply until I get home tomorrow to Ireland.. that will be at around 2300 which means I will be dead on my feet. I shall be checking in around 2000 to briefly let you know I am alive but the amazing rigmarole of my travelling tomorrow means a smart phone battery won't last the distance unless I recharge somewhere at the airport...
Either way .. I will get a message to the world of MSE somehow..
Onwards and Upwards!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -

Just checking in......trying to keep myself on track. So far so good, a NSD yesterday and so far today apart from fruit which I can't decide if that counts! I'm out tonight so that will involve spending but it is planned for and won't be excessive.
Welcome to Karmachilovething .......weirdos? ......maybe we are ! But we will be debt free weirdos if we stick to the plan!0 -
Hi everybody,
I've had one spend day since my last post (on14th Dec), I needed to get some photos printed at one of those little machines as I was 2 photos short to put in the last of my Christmas cards, I then also had to post the last of the Christmas cards. I had to buy a bulb for the night light as daughter 'might' have been coming to sleep over, which she didn't, so the purchase was totally un-necessary  and then I picked up some more wrapping paper. So all totally unplanned.
So the new stats are below:-
Food 27.62 / 50.00 (for 2 people)
Petrol 48.66 /105.00 (2 vehicles)
Christmas Food 20.66 / 30.00
Christmas presents 49.77 / 50.00
Unplanned spend 4.00 (Chinese lunch in the food court)
Unplanned spends 6.66 (Dentist)
Unplanned spends 18.41 (cards/ envelopes/photos/wrapping paper/bulb)
Unplanned-planned spend 27.86 (Post Office)
Planned spend 40.00 including Christmas tip (Hairdresser)
NSD 12 / 20
SD 6 / 11
As this is a true list of cash/credit card spent this month, adding it up it comes to 243.64 which I'm feeling a bit agasp at as I'm trying to be so good. This is way more than I imagined I would have spent by this point in the month and this doesn't include food stuff that I've paid for with vouchers/gift cards. It just goes to show how easily money can slip through your fingers.
I usually have a budget and a spending diary so I've got a pretty good idea of where my money goes, but with it being December it's totally thrown me this time.
Tomorrow the 19th is the cut off date for credit card purchases, so Hubby has been given instructions not to use his credit card, if he wants anything he has to pay cash (which he has to get from meand I haven't got any
so this will be interesting :rotfl:).
Credit cards are now out of bounds - cash is the only way for 2013.
Toodles

Hi all.
Got a Christmas card today, with £10 in itSo, i put it towards this weeks petrol money. It means i only had to withdraw £10 out of the bank instead of £20.
Was going to have chicken curry for dinner, but i forgot to defrost the chicken breast. So, then i thought i would g and buy some chicken from the supermarket...but then i found some sense, and decided to use the prawns that i have in the freezer.
So, prawn curry with nann bread and lemon rice tonight!
Also, i have had some good news on the job huntig front- i have a friend with several disabilities, and quite often (2 or 3 times a week), i go over to her house to help her wash/dress/clean her house etc. Well, i was moaning at her the other day, that i cant get any care jobs because i dont have the experience.
She said i could put her down as a reference, and out the 'work' i do for her, down on my CVI dont know why i hadnt thought of it before to be honest. I am hoping that'll help when applying for jobs from n ow on.
