I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
Kerri-i always put 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice.
So, pour in 2 cups of rice, then 4 cups of water, bring to the boil, then turn it down to simmer, and simmer for 10-15mins.

    Greetings Debt Busters!

Just checking in to say Hello and to keep (get back!) on track.

I went off track today and spent £11.25 on 3 glasses of wine (not all for me!). but it was two good work friends' birthdays and I met them at lunchtime, no worry though, I earned £10 on the way to meet them with a MS job.

For those of you looking for cheap rice (and other foods) check out http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/rice_and_couscous
I use them a lot, and find they have some good deals, just check your usual against your usual prices beforehand as they are not always cheaper particularly when the delivery charge is added on.

  • Ha ha Lozzy well done! I have done exactly the same and intend to restock a lot more cleverly this time!! Choose wisely.. fruit and veg, brown rice, and good solid ingredients that can stretch forth and allow you to batch cook. Let us know how you get on!!

  • Marylea the delivery for some of us using AP doesn't make it worth while to use all the time. I would do one delivery a month and sometimes not even that! But yes they are good just don't get 10 packets of the same thing as boredom sets in pretty fast..

Ha Ha I absolutely agree.......I have enough cous cous to feed the street!......it is way out of date but it will keep forever! Sometimes I mention to friends what I am planning to buy and we put together an order, also, I find it good for cat/dog food so I tend to place an order for that and top it up with some human food........unfortunately the animals don't like cous cous! :rotfl:

I made it home okay, a lot quicker than first thought.. Mumsy has fed me, the fire is going and I slept in my own wee bed last night. I am planning a very easy NSD today because yesterday was scuppered by having to buy a bottle of water! GRR! (£1.89)

    Kerri - I have disciples! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Kerfuffle I am SO glad you have decided to clear and discard the CC. These are an invention that should only every be used, as you say if you are able to pay it in full or for a serious emergency but we are all aiming to get at 3-6 months tucked away somewhere for those emergencies aren't we..:T:T:T
:xmastree:Well now I am VERY impressed with you all!!! So much so I am added trees:):xmastree:

This is the attitude that I proposed to garner when starting these challenges, embracing minimalism in our lives, relying on ourselves and not Mr CC, pre-planning and knowing where our money is going. This for me, is VERY exciting that everyone is learning a little about these spending habits. I knew I wasn't alone in wanting to rid myself of these dastardly debts and Mumsy has learned that lemon rice is actually quite lovely..:)

    Well done folks....

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

Good to see you back NSK, it's great to go away but it's even better coming home :T

You do indeed have disciples :rotfl:

The credit card is now in a sealed envelope, doubled wrapped with sticky tape which I will only be able to open with a pair of scissors. The words 'Absolute Emergency Only' are written across the front of the envelope, so it will have to be a really absolute emergency for me to have to stand in a shop trying to open that envelope in front of people. :rotfl:

I did really well today not succumbing to temptation. First off I was an hour early for work so debated whether to kill time have a discounted staff breakfast, which I resisted :T. Then after work I was soooooo tempted to call at a burger bar as Hubby was working late and so I only had myself to feed, again I resisted :T
When I got home I then gorged on allsorts and winegums until my tea was ready, but I made it, another NSD :T:T

Here are some ideas for Cous Cous cake, something a bit different!!
you can also use Cous cous to coat chicken instead of bread crumbs ect. Dont fret theres plenty you can do with a bit of cous cous :)

Thanks for the lovely welcome - I really appreciate it.
I'm beginning to feel a bit sick about next month actually, as we already have outstanding bills that we can't pay until the end of January. It's ridiculous!!!

I will have to use my CC a bit, but it gets paid off at the end of the month by DD (no extended credit option). So long as we are very careful then we should be on a more even keel by the end of February.

Meal planning will be my friend I think, along with vegetarian options reduced stuff!
    Trying to keep in budget.
