Well done, Daisychains! Congratulations on the rest of your life - may it be happy - and most importantly - may you be content x
  • To anyone that posts on a serious thread about abuse/child abuse accusing the poster of being a troll - please please think about the seriousness of what you are doing.
When you are being abused you naturally play down the abuse you are suffering (womens aid have confirmed this is what most women do) - reading comments that accused me of playing things up or blowing things out of proportion were massively insulting.
When I went to womens aid my case was sent straight to marac which is what happens when you are at risk of serious injury or death by a partner, it is not a game or that some women are out to get men, domestic violence is a huge problem against women and men.
Not sure what I am trying to say here, basically it takes huge courage to speak out and get help, no one should ever be questioned or accused of lying. Part of the reason I got recordings of my ex-partner is because I was so scared womens aid/the police would refuse to help without concrete evidence of him assaulting me/being emotionally abusive.
Hope this helps someone in the future.

I think it will take me years to come to terms and deal with everything that has happened.. still am getting moments of elation followed by huge lows and voids in my life, I was so used to being told what to do.

The hardest thing I have ever done but also the most satisfying.

So pleased that you have managed to break free.

It will be scary at times because you'll have to find out again just who you are after years of being controlled but it will be worth it.

Keep in touch with Women's Aid - they know it's a long process and will understand how you feel on the bad days. The good days (and all the good years ahead) will make it all worthwhile.
