Have they provided 6 years details of charges within 40 days? - if not and have cashed your cheque report them to the Information Commisioner
  • Hi no they haven't sent me all 6 years, they have sent me the last 14 months and for 1 account only and yes they have cashed my check, how do I report them and how.

    Thanks for your help, Cheekysheepy

Sorry - thought your headline was "battering me with grapes" - took a minute to read it properly....
  • Hi again.... ABBEY....ok, 40 days is up, only 12 months statements, called them 1 week ago and they said that the 40 days starts from whenever it suits them, blah blah blah... Ive got nearly all of my statements, so do i send the second letter to enforce them to supply the statements, or can i just estimate the remainder? i want to get things moving obviously, but dont want to break any rules.
However, I have noticed that others have estimated and not even been questioned, which could of course open a tin of worms for claimants ( demand what they like?) . Advice please if you have the time.
    Again, many many thanks.
  • I sent the first letter along with a cheque for £10 to the Abbey in mid Feb07.
They have acknowledged the fact that they have recieved the cheque (twice!!) and also sent me the last years statement (TWICE!!!) and after numerous phone calls and well over the 40day period still nothing!!! And no one there seems to be able to tell me when i will infact get the statements.
    What now????
Can someone enlighten me?? I know that they must have a backlog, but is this a form of dirty tactic in the hope that i will disappear???
I've been told (by them) that I don't need my statements to ask them to look at the charges, but is this a good idea, considering that i have found on the year that they have sent me, that they have charged me for bounced payments even though there was sufficient funds in the account!!!

They are probably busy, but I find it so sad that we cannot be certain that it isn't deliberate. If you haven't had your statements by the 40 day deadline, report them to the Information Commissioner. Mind you, he's busy too.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

    Hi

I had trouble getting my statements from Abbey. They sent me 14 months worth and advised me they would send the rest via Microfiche at a later date.

The ladies name at the bottom of the letter was Pam Speed, i ended up faxing her saying that i had not received the Microfiche statements and the 40 days were up..... Fax worked perfectly for both accounts after contacting her. All Microfiche statements dreceived within days of me contacting them - infact i received one accounts worth 2 x.

    Hi Mandy,
I have just composed a letter to send to Abbey, expressing my disappointment with their non compliance to the DPA.
I too had a letter from Pam, do you think that I should fax the letter over to her as well as sending a hard copy to their complaints department?
