Not dieting, not counting calories/carbs etc...just eating healthily. Anyone else?

    Re: Wine, why not limit to weekends only?? I'd like to think you can eat whatever you want but in moderation?!?! Well that's what I'm doing, treating myself to my sweeties once a week!

    fab thread ! :j can I join?

    Long time slimming world member. lost over 1 and a 1/2 stone - continued with the class as I helped out but didn't stick to the plan. Now weigh nearly a stone heavier than when I started the slimming world journey in the first place :(

    fast forward to now and I'm repeating what I did last year.. i.e go to class, pay my fiver, weigh, stay for image therapy, go home, eat like mad to make up for being good from the following day. Following day, it goes pear shaped and the week simply goes downhill from there.

    Really feel its time to call it a day but cant quite bring myself to quit?

    Would like to think I could just eat healthier but when I tried this before xmas/had a break from SW, I just ate ate ate.

    so thats me!

    To cure the wine weight, I will have a glass when I'm out for a meal, but never have a glass at home. That means I won't be drinking a glass for the next two days.

    OH does serve man size portions!

    But we've both done well today. Soup hitch had to thin down for lunch, followed an apple. Gorgeous risotto for dinner, only a small portion, saving some for tomorrow.

    Tai chi in the morning, doesn't break a sweat, but still good.

    Flat Eric I think you will find universally that once one stops the diet the weight ALWAYS comes back on 10 fold, the key is to make a LIFESTYLE CHANGE! I couldn't spend my life, weighing, counting calories, counting points or whatever it is they do at WW!!

    If one actually sits down and thinks about it, it's actually quiet simple, not rocket science, BURN MORE THAN YOU ARE CONSUMING!

    Flat Eric, of course you can join in. You might find that once you stop thinking "good" and "bad" foods and relax a little, that you won't get such strong cravings. If SW, WW and the rest of the "magic" diets worked, everyone would be slim and healthy.

    I think a top tip for you would be to try and not buy the (so-called) unhealthy foods. My downfall is crisps and other savoury snacks, so I don't buy them. If they're not in the cupboard, I can't eat it.

    I'm guessing you're using food as a "reward" for being good, then afterwards you feel guilty? I might be way off the mark, so feel free to tell me to mind my own business :) If it is the case, could you try rewarding yourself in a non-food way? Such as extra time doing your cross stich or an extra chapter in a book?

    Do you do any exercise? Not necessarily the gym, but walking or some stuff at home? It's amazing how it can make you feel better. I used to hate any form of exercise as I associated it with sweaty, smelly gyms and getting out of breath. I now happily do pilates (twice a week) and walkies (every day), usually at least 4 miles. Build it up slowly but steadily.

    You're now in the club, and I certainly have faith in you. Good luck and stick with it, you can do this :) if you need any help with meal ideas etc let us know and we'll try our best.

    I don't count calories or fat as some fats are really good for you eg in nuts and salmon. I just eat healthy filling meals eg muesli, chicken and salad, salmon and potatoes. I snack on raisins, oranges, carrot sticks. Have never felt more happy or clean inside and outside. Definitely the way to go, screw all these diets.

    Hi everyone, it's great to see other people joining :)

    ahh, the great wine debate! i LOVE red wine...but i am desperately trying to cut down.
    I still have a bottle a week though, and i'd like to cut this down too, so was thinking about getting one of those mini bottles of wine (i think they are normally only a glass or 2)..but i really see it as a treat on a Friday night to have chocolate and wine.

    Does anyone else struggle with weekend eating and drinking?

    No to the exercise other than walking to the bus stop and back and walking round the shops when I go shopping :rotfl: I did join a running group back in 2011 but I used to dread going and haven't been in over six months (if not longer). Its bad that I don't do any exercise and I suppose if I did execise then I would feel more motivated to do more exercise.

    Foodwise, Slimming World has given me an obsession with food that I never had before. :( I can see its good points but also to some extent can see its bad points. Dieting for me pre SW meant no treats so joining SW was a relevation in that I could still have them. I did very well with it first time round but a combination of factors has meant the weight (and more) has crept back on.

    I would like to call it a day and just eat healthier but at the same time I want to lose the weight I have put on.

    Yes I do reward myself with food and likewise I will cheer myself up with food if I have had a bad day. Sometimes, my first day after weigh in, I'm super good and keep my syns low so the next as a reward, I allow myself a bar of chocolate ! then I think sod it and eat what I want.

    I gave up alcohol for January and got sponsored to do so - the Cancer Research Dryathlon campaign. There were only a few occasions where I really missed having wine and since the end of Jan (and since my first drink after completing the challenge), I've had only a few occasions where I have had alcohol. I'm glad I did the challenge although I don't think I would repeat it. I agree the small bottles are a good option because once its gone its gone.

    Yes I do!!!!! I know it's because Friday night is the time I go buy my boys their weekend treats. I usually buy crisps and sweets and then we get a takeaway on Sunday! If I start on Fri I can't stop till Sunday and until THERE IS NO EVIDENCE LEFT :(:mad::eek:!!!! This cycle I NEED TO STOP!!!

    Weekdays there is no temptation and I'm fine with that, alcohol just sits in my cupboard! SIGH

    I'm pleased, and relieved to have lost 1 ,1/2 lbs.

    Relieved as I went for lunch with some old colleagues yesterday and had soup, followed by tagliatelle. I don't usually have soup as a starter as it is too filling, but I was soooooo cold!

    Of course, I couldn't eat much of the tagliatelle , just picked out the lovely roasted butternut squash!

    Big test this afternoon, Wales v. Italy! :D
