I actually agree with your sentiment - I hope the OP does feel the full force of the law. Not that I'm unsympathetic to her predicament, but people can't just go around stealing/commiting fraud/selling stolen goods, etc... I feel sorry for the poor sods on eBay who paid a lot for a useless phone and now look as though they won't get their cash back.
Not having a lot of luck on the Mobile Phones forum , are you? What with upsetting Jimx20 and me being accused of stalking you !!!!
Want to start again?? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I cannot believe someone would actually try this but it's now done.
Not trying to frighten you but do be prepared for the Police to contact/visit you over this, there could quite possibly be criminal charges to answer.
Telling your family may be a good idea.
I was going to suggest asking if a family member could help, but then figured that if anyone could, surely GeorgiaF would have asked them for help already, before committing this stupid act.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

Not you again! Leave me alone or I'm gonna ask for an injunction.
Deary me, you are a sensitive lot in here aren't you?! I don't even think I've used any naughty words either.0 -

Don't do that or I might be in the dock along side our OP !;)0 -

Not necessarily... it was free money .... her friend said so ... innit.
Why borrow from family who'll ask for their money back when you can blag 1K with no consequences, well that was the plan.
Refund the buyer's, resell as blocked. Take the hit. Credit file seriously trashed - nothing to be done about that as correct.0 -

Having said that in this case asking the family first would have been a better idea.
Oh I would not like this worry on my shoulders.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

She'll only be able to sell to South East Asia as the block doesn't work there, and that's going to sell at a loss.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

Well she needs her ebay account as that's a money-maker, so she'll have to refund to save it. But she doesn't have the 1K to refund and can't get credit now. So I can see her ignoring the whole thing ie reselling might be irrelevant.
Given the lack of honesty, her 'friend' will probably advise her how to open a brand spanking new ebay account. And no, I'm not advocating it but the OP doesn't seem to be too hot on doing the right thing.0 -
This seems almost as stupid and amoral as the people who robbed shops during the riots last year.
Didn't anyone learn anything from what happened to these people?
Many of them went to prison for taking much less valuable items than 2 very expensive phones!
It does sound to me like you have committed fraud (ie a criminal offence) and I suspect the police will become involved.
If you are prosecuted I wouldn't be surprised if you get a custodial sentence (ie prison) for fraud of this magnitude (£1000 or more).
Even if you are lucky and only get community service, you will still get a criminal record and this will make it very difficult for you to get a job.
With friends like your friend, who needs enemies?0 -
