Afternoon All
Havent read the thread yet so ((Hugs))/ Congrats (delete as appropriate). Just got in from work and nursery. Going to start tackling the garden in a minute. Have been reading the gardening board and its really fired me up to sort out our mess. Tea is a nice and easy Toad in the Hole.
Tonight I need to tackle the ironing and do a meal plan for the next week or so. DH gets paid on Friday and we are going to end the month in credit which I'm really please about.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Afternoon all. Just remembered boys at an after school thing so I have an extra half an hour today I don't usually have so squeezing a little MSE visit in. Havent had chance to read through completely yet but hope Master Tru is ok, my DPs just been to dentist. We've found out that last time he was there the dentist had removed a tooth but when he did he's cracked the other, no wonder he was in pain. Anyway he's removed it and not charged for the treatment.
Radiator ordered for my car, which has burst badly, luckily DPs one on his car is holding out a little longer, fingers crossed.
Popped into a few shops when I was out, got a hanging basket, eventually remembered compost, oh and whoever was asking about veg racks Home Bargains had one for £1.99 3 level chrome/steel look.
Back to the vets with puppy who still has kennel cough, must be 4 weeks, cost me £9 for more antibiotics got to see how she is in 10 days. Worried as we are mean't to be going on holiday in June and she needs her jab well before then too, just hope she gets better.
Waiting for gas service guy to turn up to do yearly service, I hate 'PM appointments' can guarantee he'll be as late as possible. May aswell get some cleaning done I suppose, next mission more laundry and kitchen tidy.
Hope everyone is well, hugs to those who aren't or just would like one.One day I might be more organised...........

Hello everyone
Happy Birthday Hilstep2000!! And ((hugs)) to Busygirl, Amanda999, Anniestar and anyone else who needs one (sorry if I have missed anyone, have been trying to remember names while I read the thread!)
I haven't posted much recently as seem to have been so busy! Ds1 started preschool yesterday and seemed to have a great time - I can't believe my little boy is now a schoolboy! Had some good news this morning, Tesco have sent us payment to cover getting our car fixed after we filled it up with contaminated petrol. Didn't know whether we would get it or not as the garage man was adamant that the damage was not caused by bad fuel, but DH researched it a bit on the net and sent the evidence to tesco and they have paid up
Had a nice experience with Freecycle, I'd been given a stool when I was pregnant, a sort of disability one, and managed to pass it on to a disabled lady who had just come out of hospital (a brain injury from what i could understand) and needed a stool to shower. I'd offered it a few times and was despairing of getting rid of it so I'm really glad it found a good home - they are about £35 new
OS-wise, not much doing today other than cooking and clearing up after myself and the boys. Had leftovers of a yummy veggie casserole for lunch (have posted the recipe on Gingham Ribbon's thread) and making roast sausages and beetroot tonight with the fresh beetroot from the veg box. Got some stuff to list on Ebay tomorrow which I need to sort through. Might even get some feet-up timeThat man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0 -
Hello everybody and hugs to all. Busy day so far for me - bank, library (got the follow up novel to "messiah" out!!!) , post office where I think the lady calculated my parcel wrong as it was £2.50 dearer than using the calculations on the royal mail website (I think she used surface mail letter and not printed papers as I asked for..... and I only took it to double-check my calculations, no wonder I've now got indigestion). Now I have to e-mail the buyer and tell her what price it is for the postage - well, I say buyer what I really mean after sending my e-mail will be ex-potential buyer  In fact, I don't know why I just didn't use the royal mail website to buy the postage off - does anyone else do that? Dropped some stuff off at Mr Rage's accountant and have had to bring some of it home as he hasn't signed all the pages he should have  Also went to the dentist which was £45.50  as I had a temporary repair and some X-rays and these aren't covered by the monthly payment which covers check ups. Got to go back for a "proper" filling - my wallet can't wait. She also thinks I'm anaemnic as I've got loads of mouth ulcers and my tongue's all sore and cracked. That said, actually feeling a bit better today - perky in fact. Also got a couple of children's windmills from the cheapo shop so I can plant them with my late carrots this weekend - no doubt our "hardcore" sparrows will just laugh at them. Well, if you've got Mr Blackbird and a robin trailing 'round the garden after you when you're watering your borders so they can get the worms first-hand the birds in my garden are obviously the Ross Kemp of wildlife!!
I think dinner tonight will be bacon, sausage and beans and I might even do some wedges to go with that!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -

:T :T :T Well the chap is here unblocking the sink, it appears to be blocked from below the trap right round to where it goes into the internal waste system........a piece with 2 bends in it and about 15 foot of pipe involved, if he cannot unblock it we will have to have it all ripped out, which will involve taking the kitchen cuboards out as the pipes run behind the cupboards, oh joy!!!!! it appears to be solidified fat and paint, must have been building up for years.
Since I lived in Hampshire on a cess pit we have never put fat down the sink,:DI keep a jam jar on the window cill and empty fat into it and then when the jar is full, put the lid on and it goes in the dustbin. I do save pork dripping and occasionally some lamb fat for stovies, that gets poured into a dish in the fridge.
The smell is not too pleasant either. Up date there has just been a rush of water and a shout from the kitchen, so I guess he has managed to unblock it, will be off to Tesco for more washing soda, I am going to pour WS and boiling water down it a couple of times a day.........for the next few days.
Off to make the poor bloke a cup of tea...................and burn a candle in the kitchen to get rid of the smell.........:D :eek:

Thanks for the tip about the jam jar on the kitchen windowsill. Excellent idea and one I will put into practice right now! Thanks. By the way - couldn't make out whether you used to live in Hampshire or you still do - if you don't, it's lovely and sunny at the moment!:A :A :A
In my working days I was a Kym from Kym and Aggie, I worked for the MD of a large company and we lived in Hampshire, I retired in 2000......and we moved back to middle England............every holiday we had to riddle the drains after the lady of the house had put fat down the sink after cooking for dinner parties..........one year we had an Ascot dinner, an hour before 30 guests arrived my OH and I were down the drain rodding out solidified grease...oh joy!!!!
Thankfully the chap has finished and the smell has gone from the kitchen, I have used a whole bag of washing soda and boiling water, I will have to buy some more tomorrow.
Its lovely and sunny here too.............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
[STRIKE][/STRIKE]Annie - an ironing board is the stuff of nightmares. It was invented by the devil himself and designed so that you can never ever say you have finished with it. It never goes away, it's difficult to hide and, sometimes, when you think you have put it away at the back of your mind, for just a short time, just to give you a little break, it comes back to remind you that it's still there! If you haven't used it for a while, especially when you know you should have, it pops up and says 'Here's Johnnie, remember me?'
URGH!!!! Will stay WELL CLEAR of THEM then!(and anyone that knew me would know that I am deadly serious!)Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

EssexGirl Let us know how your drive out goes. Some years ago I had three months of not being able to drive. First time back in the seat I was really nervous, but I really enjoyed it. And it didnt' take long for me to get back into the car without thinking about it IYKWIM.
Only went round the village in the end but it was ok. Think it will be good exercise for my wrist also. Tomorrow or Friday will be further afield as I need to go to a big town. Cant wait - I know some people like going shopping with others but Im much better on my own.
Dont seem to have done much today, have changed and washed the kids bedding and still need to do mine. Mind you I ironed yesterdays washing so nothing in the ironing basket. Am going to try and keep on top of it now (its a permanent resolution of mine). Gas man turned up and is hopefully fisxing the boiler, once he's gone will go and have a route around in the freezer to sort some dinner.
Oh and builder didnt turn up again. WIll find out later if he's meant to turn up tomorrow.
Have a great evening.0 -
Afternoon everyone
Hugs to Master Tru.
Sorry I haven't been around much but this computer is seriously dying. I can't wait until the new one arrives on 1 May. Plus I am a bit shame faced as I have not been very moneysaving lately but enjoying my freedom of being able to buy what I want for the house and the children without having to justify myself.
The job front is going really well. It's only 3 days but it feels like I have never been away from the office environment. The man front is also going well, it's nice to be able to kick them out the door when you have finished with them
I do have to phone the tax credits people and get that sorted out now but that's not a problem. Will do that later on. I've also fitted in more housework than I thought was humanly possible when it's just one person and they work for half the dayFeeling quite proud of myself really!!
