  • Maybe us single and sexy folks ought to be labelled just that, despite of all that the lovely marrieds and families do for us, we don't have an independent voice, the marketing Moneysupermarket advertising subdivisions not withstanding.

We most certainly do have an independent voice!!!!!

I most certainly do not need, or would ever wish to be, labelled or defined by my relationship status!

There is no need to segregate.

There is no need for a (pretty pointless) 'singletons board'

Down in Feedback - MSE Andrea posted 'Patience'. that was it! one word!

how patronising is that? are we children?

Maybe the new site owners wanted the change and the team warned them it wouldn't work but were made to do it anyway. Maybe they thought we'd all rebel and prove their point before the boards get put back to the way they were. Which is why Andrea wrote 'patience'.

(I don't really believe that theory but I'm clutching at straws. :rotfl:)

The site's just going to end up impersonal. It will still cater for many with all it's factual stuff and I suppose numbers count but it will lose what it is that gives it 'heart'. Progress I guess. :undecided

Don't you realise that only parents are real people, no one else actually matters

It's a stupid move, segregation was done away with for a bloody good reason.

    - this board has very little to do with money-saving these days.

So, take 'money-saving' out of the title.

For the rest, leave it as it was - a weird mixture of occasional moneysaving topics; confessional/diary threads; support threads for those who are dealing with family members who are 'atypical' in some way; support for those who are dealing with trying to conceive - and various stages thereafter; the troll/soap opera threads - which sometimes have interesting topics; and the other random - but often interesting and educational - threads whcih pop up here.
    Exactly.
A lot of the threads which are posted have nothing to do with 'money-saving' but the poster wants a safer environment to post in than The Arms.
The old board covered a lot of ground under 'Relationships' including difficulties with friends and work colleagues and the replies came from those with partners and those without. Where do those queries go now?

I think this is a bad move.

All arguments have already been made by others so I won't repeat them, but I wanted to add my opinion in case anyone is keeping note of how many people object. At the moment we are vocal, but very much a minority in terms of the overall number of people who posted on the families board!

What a ridiculous idea - not much else I can say as others have already!
  • Another person here not happy with the new catergories.

Families come in all shapes and sizes - why try to break them down?

I also have great sympathy with anyone who would love to be a parent but for whom it is not happening. To put post relating to the difficulties that some people have conceiving in a section relating to parents is just not right
