So where is moneysaving for those of us who do not have charge of a child? All this has done has spread the parenting stuff over two boards.

Still not getting this new board thing. There are loads of threads in the main board (Marriage, Relationships and Families) that seem to fit the (admittedly vague) criteria of being in the sub-board (Money-Saving Mums and Dads) so what's the point?

All it means is that you've got to look in more than one place for similar threads. Madness.

Hi, I promise there's no hidden issue here, the new boards really are just to have a place where people can ask MoneySaving questions relating to their own circumstances ...

But didn't the previous boards give that? Sorry to be dense and ask questions that have no doubt already been asked, but who was complaining about the previous set-up?

But that's the definition of a sub-board, surely.
For a post to fit in a sub-board it must fit in the board that the sub-board is in. But it fits better in the sub-board.
E.g. Stoozing is a sub-board of Credit Cards. A question about Stoozing _is_ a question about credit cards, so it could go in the Credit Cards board. But it would fit better in the Stoozing sub-board.

Indeed. But where do you stop? You could have endless sub-boards but at some point the complexity outweighs the benefits. My argument is that that point has been reached.

We've set up this new Mums & Dads sub-board to help more forum users get their questions answered and encourage new ones.

While we're calling it MoneySaving Mums & Dads, it's essentially the place to ask questions about looking after kids, whether you're a mum, dad, grandparent or carer.
Why don't you call it Children and Childcare
instead of trying to define who the carers are?

I don't think you can win with the changes to be honest.

If you put TTC on the mums board, some people will be offended as they are not mums yet and its hard work for them trying to be a mum, but then if you put them in the other board then its also offensive as they can't qualify to be a mum yet if they are TTC.

The miscarriage board is still stuck in the marriages and relationships board, whereas TTC inc longterm and pregnancy threads are on mums and dads. Clearly having a baby taken away from you doesn't qualify you to be a mum or a dad :(

I'm a mum, TTC # 2, I've had a miscarriage, and I also like to read the 12 weeks pregnant boards etc to see how my friends from the TTC thread are doing. I don't see why all of those threads can't be on the same board - but like I say - wherever you try to make the split between 'mums' and 'non-mums' you will cause offence now.

Do you know what the saddest thing is tho? Posts are being missed. Someone waited 2 days on the miscarriage thread for a reply, when she was probably very upset and needed some support. When the thread was bumped to the top previously people would see it and comment - and now its getting missed. :(

TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait :o

This is really important. Messing around with something so sensitive when it's already working is a recipe for disaster.
