I haven't commented before, but this new split is even weirder :undecided Why are you seperating the parents?!
Also, although I've never posted on them, it concerns me re the TTC/miscarriage threads. Women going through times like these do not need it rubbing in their faces that they are having problems. Have a little sensitivity?0 -
Someone...is having a laugh.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Was it broken, did it need fixing, were there loads of people clamouring for a new subsection to be set up or things to be organised differently?

Two boards for Mums and Dads. Seriously?
Either MSE has someone new who is trying to 'improve' (when they really should leave well alone) or someone 'old' in the Team is trying to look as if they're earning their wage. :rotfl:
(Just banter MSE team, no offence meant.)
Seriously though, why are you messing with the boards when they were fine 'as is' (or were) and you don't even use them?
Edit: Actually, one good point that has come from all this is that they have taken the 'moneysaving' bit out of 'Marriage, Relationships and Families. It's much more accurate now.
I suspect the intent was to have a discussion type area and also a more money focused area but instead of doing some user group research to help things along, they've jumped in with two left feet. Kinda ironic when in the past, opinion has been asked about more mundane topics, such as Martin's pic for example.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Just because something isn't broken, doesn't mean it can't be improved.
I think that it is good if MSE is being proactive and looking for ways to make the boards better.
I think the problem is, however, that they appear to have done it with no user input beforehand and very little user interaction afterwards.0 -
I don't like this split between Mums and Dads. It just seems pretty pointless. Can't Dads give Mums advice on parenting issues? And vice versa? I'm one Un-happybutterfly!0

How about Marriage, Relationships & Families and.... Moneysaving in Marriage, Relatioships & Families?
Or Moneysaving in Marriage, Relationships & Families and... MRF Advice/General?
Still gives two boards (cos that's obviously what they want) but leaves it as being open to all.0 -

I think I use MSE differently to many because I only go down the the board level when I want to start a new thread. If I'm browsing I will click "User CP" to see threads I am currently involved with or "New Posts" to see what's new. So I don't know when the latest change happened.
MSE STOP! Stop right now!
What's with the constant changes? What's with the lack of discussion? Obviously things are going wrong because things keep getting changed. Why not have a thread to discuss the best approach and then do it?
[Should I leave this thread, as I'm a dad not a mum?]0 -
Went on to the "Mums" board (naughty, I know). The first thread I clicked on (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4304149) had a male OP.

Looks like threads are on the move again. Looking forward to the next version!0
