            Dried onions are used here in soups, stews, sauces etc.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

            I've never peeled one either! I use a damp piece of kitchen roll and wipe them clean, which is how I was taught all those years ago in Home Ec0

 i believe that mushrooms are porous so would suck up water and not have such a good flavour...i am going to try and wash them the next time i cook something with them in and see if is acceptableI never knew that you could/would peel a mushroom...I just use a collander and wash vigorously.onwards and upwards0
