AM really confused as to what vacuum cleaner to go for. When I look at these forums I feel more confused as there is too much choice out there. OFcourse price and functionality is a deciding factor but can someone help me:
We have wooden flooring in most rooms and carpets only on the staircase.
Not sure whether we need an upright vacuum or a cylinder one.
Not sure whether to go for Miele or Sebo as there is not a great difference on price. CAn someone tell me about the functionality?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
thanks for the advice on Henry. Obviously everyone seems to have mixed feelings about this and say that it doesn't clean as good as everyone proclaims. The Miele cylinder seems to win hands down but if a Henry is good I don't mind going for it - I would be saving £100.000

Yup. I have had a Henry which I bought second hand 7 years ago.. It has fallen down the stairs several times and is still alive. You can get 10 genuine bags for £3.99 incl postage on e-bay.
I was looking for another vacumn as I have more carpet than hard floor and it can't get the dog hair off the carpet. For our vinyl kitchen floor and parquet other floors it does fine. Great for the car too. Fairly cheap on the whole... You can get all sorts of colours too, even pink!.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Hoping you can help me out. I know there was a thread in the not too distant past about vacuum cleaners with Which magazines recommendations.
My 13 year old Dyson DC01 is finally dying.....0 -

I have had a Dyson Animal for 5 years...and I love it. Has never broken down or needed a repair.
Its a bagless upright and really whips up two sets of large labrador pet hair in a jiffy.
Cost £359 then...gawd knows how much the equivalent would be now, however if it should break tomorrow...I would readily buy another one.

I used to have a DC01 and didn't think it was very good at all, however got offered a DC07 animal and it's fab!!! They have definately improved them, maybe my partner telling Mr Dyson he thought his vacuum cleaner was rubbish (another story :rotfl: he didn't know who he was) had some effect! One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Hve tried all sorts from Dyson (hated it and gave it away) Electrolux upright (too heavy) and cylinder (brilliant but died young), Hoover upright (still have but only use occasionally) etc and a Henry and that wins hands down.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

Hi savingsara,
As the thread that Pollybear linked to is a current one I've merged your thread with it to keep all the replies together.
