I have a fuzzy cat and a fuzzy husband and my miele is fine. Never lost any suction apart from when hoover bag is full! I have a cheap nylon carpet upstairs though and it doesn't like picking the hair off that - tends to stick but using the brush head works ok. turbo head is brill on proper wool carpet downstairs and on stairs.

Have a Miele s5210. Never loses suction, well, with the exception of after hoovering under the bed on the blind when a football sock got hoovered up and got stuck a few inches up unbenounced to me. I was still able to hoover but I did notice a slight drop in suction!
  • Im a bit confused. Miele users please help.

I thought a Miele cat and dog would suit me as it picks up well, has a turbo brush, and we have a cat. However, it doesnt have allergy filtration. If you get the Miele Allergy it doesnt have a turbo brush but of course has filters. Is the Miele Allergy as good at picking up? We have quite thick wool carpets and I have asthma so I need something powerful which doesnt blow it all out. I know the Which report should reproduced earlier should answer this for me but it doesnt.

Buy the cleaner you want, then buy the Turbo brush as an accessory

  • Any other Miele model recommendations?

Miele on its own website recommends the following for allergies AND pet owners
    Solution HEPA 5280
    Rev 5000
    Rev Power plus 5000
    S4581
The last three are much more expensive: £250 plus.

Can the basic Miele have a Hepa filter added I wonder? Anyone know?

Well at the risk of sounding very unfasionable, I've had a Dyson for about three years and think it is bl**dy excellent!

For what it's worth I recall that the Which survey came into quite a lot of criticism for not being scientifically sound. I don't think they did a proper study and just invited readers to fill in a form regarding their experiences with their vacuum cleaner. Such a study would obviously be unbalanced by the fact that people have higher expectations of more expensive products and are therefore more likely to report it if they fail.
