    I've been Money Tipped!
I took kwatt at his word (he seemed like a nice boy to me!) and bought the Sebo vacuum cleaner. I have had it for two weeks and held off commenting until I had given it a fair trial.

To say that I am impressed is the understatement of the week. We have two border collies (one is constantly shedding a very fluffy coat that sticks to everything like strands of cotton wool) and a large and hairy German Shepherd dog. All live, most of the time, indoors.

We have (more fool us) light creamy beige ceramic floor tiles in all rooms except the lounge. No vacuum cleaner seemed to be able to pick up all the dog hair and wind-blown grit from neighbouring fields very satisfactorily.

A couple of days ago, I ran the cleaner head, in one pass, across a large dark grey dirt-trapper door mat that the dogs had been laying on. So powerfully did the cleaner do its work that there was a line across the mat as though someone had drawn chalk lines, saying hair this side, no hair this side. It was like those stupid adverts they use for steam carpet cleaners which suggest that their product turns your grey carpet to sparkling white in just one pass.

I am particularly pleased that this cleaner does not have an 'exhaust' as time after time, I have seen the very mess that I want to pick up being blown by the exhaust back across an area I have already cleaned.

I purchased from UK Whitegoods, and found them to be helpful and willing to answer my preliminary enquiries. I have no prior knowledge nor connection with that company and my comments are simply my report of my satisfaction with the machine and the company. I have had many cleaners over a lifetime of housework, including Earlex, Electrolux, Bosch, Hoover and latterly a Henry. None of them touch this in performance.

Give it a year or so and I'll be back to let you know how it went for reliability. kwatt - many thanks.

Thank you, I do try to be as accurate and honest as I can and I'm really pleased that you like the Sebo, I think mine is brilliant.

As for the comments about UKW thank you again and I will pass your comments on to the people that make it possible as they deserve the credit for the service.

N9eav - I bought the K3 Premium. It feels pleasantly heavy and solid although it actually doesn't weigh that much, follows along behind nicely, tools are quick and easy to change and all in all, I am genuinely pleased with it.

kwatt - please do give my thanks to the guys and gals who actually do the work - they earned the recognition.

Well the Sebo K3 premium wins over the Miele cat and dog hands down. Thanks very much for your input on this thread, kwatt. You swayed me. Shame I didn't buy from UK whitegoods. I had it ordered from the local repair shop. When I collected it, the chap said I wouldn't be disappointed and I'm not. Totally agree with everything paddy's mum says about the machine. I never got on with the Miele's turbo brush but the Sebo's one is excellent.
The downside of course is cost. Not everyone would want to pay that kind of money just for a vacuum cleaner.

    Thanks sloughflint.

I rate the Sebo highly and the thread title asked what was the best, not the cheapest. ;)

No worries on not buying from UKW, I don't do this for sales and they were only put on there as people were having trouble finding them. TBH we make next to nothing on them, it's more a service than anything else.
