Our dyson was wrecked in the flood thank goodness and after struggling with various models for the last 9 years now I would NEVER EVER buy another. I have had a sebo 1.1 for 2 months and it is absolutely fantastic. I have 2 dogs and thought it was the carpet clinging to the hairs but my upstairs carpets look like new, no more hands & knees brushing dog hair that the hoover left behind. Looking forward to getting downstairs recarpeted so I can hoover away!!!
Cant recommend the sebo enough (although considered miele but wanted an upright as fed up with aching back..;) )
Rxsimplicity is key0 -
Sebo - had for about 10 years - not one replacement part needed other than the usual filters/bags. Fab goes from Laminate floors to carpet to hairy rugs no probs. even used it in the garden when glass in back door broke, (not when the neighbours where around thou)!
All vacs look ugly ................ 'dress' it up,(yep have some fun) if you realy have to leave it out in view.0 -
I'd like to thank everyone for their input, my Dyson died weeks after my 2 year warranty run out (typical!) and the helpline cound't find any fault, so I ordered a Sebo K3 Premium. I'll report back as soon as I get it.
Did I mention that it was my second Dyson in 4 years? The first one also died!0 -
I've just bought a new Dyson and got a free 5 year guarantee, this is what sold it to me. What guarantee does a Sebo have?0
-
My Sebo K3 Premium comes with a 3 year guarantee, but you can purchase another 2 years if you wish. I received it this morning and I am very pleased with it, it picked up everything and is much quieter than the Dyson. I just have to get used to not having an upright anymore.0

Rather late to the show, I know, but I'd like to add my two penn'orth...
I'm a big fan of Nilfisk vacuum cleaners. I bought my first Nilfisk (a GS90) in 1987 and I'm still using it. It still has excellent suction and has never broken down. It's also still in very good shape!
Basically Nilfisk made their name with industrial/commercial vacuums and a bewildering range of cleaning equipment, and the domestic range benefit from all that know-how. I've since bought two more Nilfisk vacuums; a Nilfisk Family and most recently an X100 Extreme.
I've needed these as the number of houses I own has expanded to 3 over the years, and I wouldn't buy anything other than Nilfisk now. I know they're not a household name, and the prices are higher than many high-street brands, but you really do get what you pay for in this life...
In my case 20 years of unbroken and flawless service...0 -
excellent thread guys
very good info on here
does the Miele cat and dog have the self powered head on the floor brush like the sebo k3 premium does?
also those with the k3 premium, dont you think the bag is a tad too small?
we have a big household and lots of carpet to vacuum, i think the 3L capacity of the sebo will fill quite quickly, if only it was a bit bigger
the cat and dog has a 4.5L bag which is more like the size im after
decisions decisions!0 -
I agree that the Sebo bag could be bigger but having said that, ours doesn't seem to fill up too quickly. We also unpick the bottom, empty it out and staple it shut again with just a simple office type stapler. Get several more uses out of each bag that way.
I would very much like to see Sebo bring out a cloth (ie non throwaway) bag for the machine. However, that would have to be my only small grumble and months on, I still say that it is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever had.0 -
bigup7, the electric power head outperforms the Miele by miles. Don't let the small bag put you off. If you are prepared to pay the price of a k3, I'm sure you can stretch to paying for more bags.;)
Should clarify: the Miele one is non electric.0 -
which bags fit the cat and dog?
GN or FJM?
or both?
thanks0
