Miele cat and dog, or other best vacum

I've had my Miele C & D for 5 years (next month) and it's still going strong. No loss of suction, happy with all the tools, but I did break the hinges on the top cover - the one to access the tools. I can't remember when I did it, but it was a while ago and it hasn't effected my high opinion of Miele products.
Unusually for me, I signed up to the 5 year extended warranty (which is just about to expire) as it also provided a years supply of genuine Miele bags every year. Taking into account the cost of the bags, the warranty worked out at only a couple of £ per year, so I thought what the heck. (Which reminds me, it's that long since I looked at the paperwork it may actually cover me for my broken hinge!)
As an added bonus, they once sent me an extra years supply of bags by mistake, so I still have dozens of them left! I change the bags frequently, the motor filter every time I open a new box of bags and the carbon filter annually. I think this sort of routine is required for improved performance and reliability.
I'm just going to collect mine from Comet (20% off - so thanks to the poster who pointed that out).
I looked into the "Cleancare" warranty, as you say it works out at £5.50 per year for the warranty once you take the cost of the bags off. It seems to me that it may be worth doing for the extra piece of mind. Also, my OH said that it was my responsibility to get the bags, otherwise she would have made me get a bagless one, this way I don't need to remember!0 -
who would have thought there would have been so much to talk about vacuum cleaners
Oh you be surprised. There are whole web forums on all types of kitchen appliances. I bought my Miele washing machine after logging on to whitegoods.uk forums and hearing from the 'experts'.
I would be interested if KWATT could rustle up any deals for the SEBO.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Hiya,
It so happens that I own and run that site as well as doing a few other things within the industry to try and improve it and help people with appliances in general.
I managed to get the Sebo's okay and they should be among the lowest priced anywhere I think but, in all honesty, we make about £7 on them and I'm not kidding. Some of these etailers are just stupid and I've no idea how they survive on the margins, no wonder there's hardly any backup when things go wrong. Anyway, off topic really.
I'm trying to see what I can do with the Miele stuff and other appliances as I keep being asked to supply machines, but it is hard to get at decent prices, some retailers again choosing to sell virtually at trade price just to boost turnover.
I place customer satisfaction above shaving a few quid.
I can't post a direct link as that would be blatent advertising, even if it does save you guys some money but if you take off the "www" and put in "shop" to the URL above you might find the first three I've done in "New Vacuums".
Hope it helps.

kwatt,
You say you have the K3 premium. Is that the white one with what looks like a totally different head to the volcano? Does it come with different heads? Sebo website not brilliant. I have hard floor/rugs downstairs an carpets upstairs and too many cats shedding their fur. What's best. Help.
Is the HEPA filtration any good? You mentioned a lot of brands claim hepa but not very good really. Does that apply to Sebo as well?0 -

I was one of those stupid people too....I mean dyson owner.... not unhappy about your post that I didn't see, if you know what I mean.0 -
Oh dear,
just read this review on pricerunner:
itle of review sebo k3 premium
What are the strengths? None really, although the service department were very helpfull when it first broke down.
What are the weaknesses? Poor build quality, overpriced. short power cable which is difficult to retract.
Summary I have owned this vacuum cleaner for less than 6 months. within 2 weeks the bag hatch which was stiff fron new had broken. then the suction pipe became blocked and as i tried to free it the hanle power mechanism broke. I am going back to Miele which i have used before and I feel is far superior.
Do you recommend this product? No

Hi sloughflint,
The premium one comes with the powered head as well as the hard floor tool and parquet (sp?) tool as well and it is the white one, yes. The Vulcano appears to be the K3 in essence without the powered head on it, but I'd say it was well worth the extra money, especially if you have pets or young kids like I do, messy little gits.
The powered head is a brush roll with it's own motor, very much like what you would see on an upright cleaner. So it's picks up hair etc. very well and beats dust out, very effective IMO and far better than the vacuum driven affairs.
After the embarresment of realising I'd never written anything about this cleaner, except in some forums I wrote this little review on it with my own thoughts about it. What others think I can't comment on really, but I think it's a great cleaner.
Don't get me wrong the Miele is excellent as well and with either you really can't go wrong IMO.
Hope that helps.

Right decision made, I think.
I think I'll try the sebo rather than giving miele a second chance.

Calling on kwatt's knowledge again, please?
is your premium an 1800w or 2100w. Many places say it's 1800 but sebo site says 2100. Not many places seem to sell it, preferring to sell the vulkano. I wonder why? Could Sebo be withdrawing the premium and updating with a 2100w of the same name? Was going to give Sebo a call but willhave to wait till Monday.0
