Morning :hello:
Am in the office of course - I don't begrudge it so much today as it's grey and overcast outside.
I saw that "Edwardian Super Size Me" programme as well! I thought some of it looked terrific especially the big dinner at the end, but as some of you have already said, it was the sheer QUANTITY and RICHNESS of the food that I couldn't quite cope with! In Giles's medical at the end the doc said his level of urea had nearly doubled in a week... urea is what causes gout so no wonder those rich Edwardians all had it!
I think I know what I am going to do with the £20 I one on the office sweepstake... I mentioned yesterday that it would be nice to ask my cousins round for Sunday lunch sometime soon, soooo I am thinking of spending it on a really good quality joint of meat, something I have never bought before as you just don't get around to it when you're cooking for one! I might have a few speculatory trips to Waitrose at closing time (easier said than done - I don't have one in my immediate vicinity) to see if I can get something that's top quality and half price
Also am only 40 points off getting my next Pigsback voucher - I'll get a John Lewis one again, and it's already earmarked to go towards a few bottles of one of the nicest red wines you can get for £3 - Waitrose's Cuvee Chasseur.
JackieO - enjoy your Thelma and Louise adventure, and if you can't be good... make sure you give Brad Pitt a kiss from me

Penny-Pincher!! - sorry you are still not feeling good. Must catch up with you properly sometime soon.
((((hugs)))) to anybody in need
Today I'm working till 5 and then I have an evening in :j I need to finish off an opera review from Friday night (by the way, I had a MAJOR celebrity-sighting that night in the stalls bar... ANTHONY HOPKINS no less!) but other than that it will be a relaxing evening of doing nothing.... Noooooo, that's not on, I have a To Do List that fills more than a whole page of A4  so I at least need to work through some of the easy stuff
Must be off now - might pop back this evening

Hello every-one, long time no post. I have moved house and am currently awaiting broadband connection. I cant believe i have actually done this house move! It wasnt as stressful as i thought it would be but the hardest part is now as we have moved 100 miles and the area is totally different to where we were before. Real life change for us.I must have missed lots of posts and hope every-one is ok. I am currently on my local library computer.I might join while i am here as the facilities and books are very good. I hope to pop back in af ew days and will try to catch up properly when my broadband is connected. Take care every-one, Love Elaine“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Today I need to finish the ironing

Morning all
Gosh I feel really tired this morning
I set the alarm for 6am, but couldn't drag myself out of bed until 8. I wish I knew what all of your secrets were for getting out and about!
I feel really, really drained and tired even though I went to bed at midnight so slept all through to 6am, though did have a few bad dreams. Sorry for the little moan, feeling exhausted today and lots to do. Maybe it's because I have been very good and not having coffee from downstairs and so I'm missing the caffeine (sp?)?. But, thanks to regularly coming on here, 2 days no spend
.
Last night continued with my storecupboard challenge: frozen veg, quorn fillet, sauce sachet and rice. Have some for lunch today. Last night my housemate had a girlfriend over - ooooohhh! He said he has some veg left over he won't eat this week so asked me if I'd like to use it. Well in true OS I said of course
I have some lentils in the cupboard so will try and make a veggie lentil curry - without a recipe  Not like me at all!!
Chardonnay - hiya, good to see you. Just checked out your sig, well done on the weight loss and the e-bay sales! :T I'm not very good at ebaying, I list stuff and it doesn't always sell
Think I need to practise!
Mrs Mix - glad you and your OH are talking.
Smoky - I love the piccies, make me smile - thanks!
PP - hope you're feeling better today.
anniebooklover - It's amazing how much more you spend when you don't come on here, isn't it? Good luck with getting yourself straight again, I'm sure you can do it!
mossstar - congrats on your first post
:T

Well, what’s happened to the sunshine!!
don’t mind too much as I’m stuck in the office.
Made the galette last night, and my it was lush!! Had to stop myself eating the rest! Me and boyf are having it for lunch today! Yum yum!
Last night had a lovely sleep, didn’t sleep at all on Sunday night as I was kept awake all night with severe heartburn/acid indigestion, it was soooo painful and it didn’t go until late yesterday afternoon!! Extremely frustrating!!! Feel fine now though! Was glad to get to sleep! Phew!
Got my Tesco delivery arriving tonight between 6pm and 8pm. Got a couple of new things in it to try, got aubergine pickle in there!! (Thanks Gingham!)
Going to put a loaf of bread on tonight if the delivery arrives in time (yeast in it), haven’t had HM bread for aaaaages!!! I’m really getting back into my little OS ways at the moment! Might make some banana bread tonight too  got low fat butter this time though!!! Want to make some muffins too!
My freezer is seriously chocka at the moment, so need to make a bit of space. Oh yeah, will be making some yoghurt too!!! Deary me!! My poor little kitchen!!!
Brekkie was yoghurt and muesli
Lunch is galette
Dinner is falafels, pitta, houmous, salad and pots
Hope you all have a good day, (((hugs))) to everyone, take care and chat soon!!!

Good Morning All
Have a lovely holiday JackieO
Welcome Mossstar.
Cant beleive its gone 10 already and I havnt done any paperwork. I have cleaned the kitchen and put a load in the washing machine. Have also cleaned my coffee maker as do like to have some Mocha coffees whilst Im in my office.
Will probably be stuck in here all today but never mind, the sun isnt out here in Essex today.
Wrist is feeling weird, cant have a bath or shower till later as one of the holes hasnt fully closed yet. Have my splint off at the moment as recommended by the doctor and its quite sore. Its a bit gross but my skin is terrible - its flaking off as I type. Cant wait to get some moisturiser on it after my bath - sorry if its too much info!
Need to get on now as hear the washing is nearly finished. Have got leftovers from the freezer for dinner tonight with jacket spud - Im chilli, oh is curry and kids will be tuno/mayo.
Have a great day.0 -
Good morning!
Very late start here, I had a very late night. Got a 'phone call from neice in a panic because the baby had banged and cut her head. They wanted me to go look after the others while they took her to hospital. Poor little mite, only just one and a nasty impact cut right in the middle of her forehead. Blood everywhere:eek: Anyway they spent hours in casualty, while I had lovely cuddles with the girls. Baby will be fine, they glued and steri-stripped it. By the time I got home and caught up with DH it was gone 1.30 am. Feeling a tad tired now:rolleyes:
Happy hols to scuzz, JackieO and Loubee! Me jealous, nooooooo!:D
PP I too love House!! My cousin has lupus, but luckily her girls are old enough not to worry when it's mentioned so often!! What I found really interesting is I think you can tell Hugh Laurie is not American. But my son is married to a Canadian and they (Canadians that is) had no idea who he was and fully believed he was American.
So obviously the accent is not as "suspect" as I thought:o
Well as I'm only operating at half pelt today, I'd best get off and do something, getting dressed would be a fairly good start!
Hope you all have good days,
CMx
Nearly forgot, I'd meant to come back last night to boast about my great dinner!! Wild Alaskan salmon, new potatoes, roasted red and yellow tomatoes with leek, broccoli and ENGLISH asparagus. It was really yummy!!!! First english asparagus of the year, and it sure does knock the socks of the foreign stuff! ( Yes I know I shouldn't buy it, but I do succumb every so often 'cos I love asparagus:o ) But after tasting "the real mcCoy (sp)" again I don't know why I ever bother. I really should try to grow my own, but 3 years before I culd cut any, I don't know that I could manage that:rotfl:
PS Was up to my elbows in soapsuds when I remembered I'd forgotten to wish Miss PenPen Happy 14th Birthday!!!:bdaycake: Back to the H/W now!You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
