Got an email I won a trip to Barcelona, but...

I just got the email too. I was so excited and was looking up the competition on mse when I came across this post saying they have sent 9,000 out by mistake. I am gutted. I have already told my husband we are going to Barcalona.

Wow just read this thread and Im so sorry to hear about all your dissapointment, I hope to hear that at least one of you does win the prize, what a shame though to receive such an exciting email to find 2 hrs later it was a mistake

Well, the thing is I told my son (16), he very excited ofcourse, telling all his friends, and then you get this...

an email "sorry, we got it wrong"

I don't think you can do this, I mean mistakes happen but at least put it right.

Hahahaha, i've been in bed sick all day, and only just saw this. What a royal c**k up. I only then checked my email.

Got an e mail stating I had won a trip for two to Barcelona. When I looked up the comp it was with flights spending money and tickets to a footie match. Me and hubby were very excited. Wev had a rough year and then about 15 mins later we got an e mail saying this:

'we are sorry an there has been a mistake, you are not the winner'

I nearly cried, got so happy in that 10 mins and the e mail was so blunt. Anyone else? Feel like giving up now xx

I also got a winning email from Boots but when I've just checked my phone to see if there was a missed call from them I had a message from somebody else about a competition I entered for a free night's stay. I phoned back but they've gone home from the day so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. I really hope after the disappointment of the Barcelona competition that I have won an overnight stay and it's not just a sales call or a runners-up prize of a mug!

I hope noone goes to the Times, etc, as that can only have negative effects by making companies worried about running competitions. It's awfully gutting, but as has been said, everyone makes mistakes and I certainly would not be the one to cast stones. When I won a really big holiday, I didn't even tell my husband till I had double and triple checked it and even then waited for the booking confirmation and tickets to come in the post before I got excited. It's always good to be careful.

Sorry for everyone, but there'll be other competitions. That's what this hobby is all about.

To Late I had already done that.
TBH I was just Gutted, I dont want to be compensated, I just wanted an apology as it did cause upset.
I think people should stop having a go at each other, we are just letting out our frustration. We are all allowed to have a point of view, Weather others agree or not, but lets not get nasty, all anger should be directed at Boots not each other :beer:
