Got an email I won a trip to Barcelona, but...

i've told all my mates and about it and my partner. I can't bear the embarrassment and p1ss taking i'm going to get when i say it was mistake.

I did win a hol to Spain last year but the promoters said they'd made a mistake and the holiday was for one person instead of two. Disappointed but accepted it had been a mistake and didn't go as I couldn't afford to pay for my husband to go too. I'd won easily - filled in a form with a quick slogan and could so easily not have won in the first place. This thread shows how many people we are competing with each time we fill in a form It's done me good - think it's time to find another hobby.

Bet the person who made the mistake today is in for lots of sleepless nights and has my sympathy.

Me and the wife both got excited until i told her about the balloon flight,she said no way am i getting in a balloon !!!!! she wasn't as fed up with me when i had to tell her they made a mistake

OMG I've won too yes I was mega excited for a split second.

Can I just say how pathetic some of the keyboard warriors/divvys are on here! It was a human error get over it & stop your !!!!!ing! Or scrap outside (I want front row seats though)

oh well, some you win some you lose, luckily I've just read my emails and they come in time order so got the apology generic email first, thankfully or I'd have been so excited.
Still mistakes happen.... on with the comping....good luck everyone

I got it too, I thought I was having the best birthday ever there for a while until I checked on here! Best tell my husband we're not going to Barcelona!! Back to the comping board then.

I got the "winner" email earlier and excitedly told my wife and family before googling the hotel and looking at dates when Barcelona are at home etc. Been out since and thought a few times how great a prize it is.

Just got home and received that pathetic excuse of an apology e-mail. I'm fuming. Phoned Boots and spoke to a perfectly polite manager called Scott Chadder who informed me it was a mistake, he was very sorry, but that was the end of the matter.

Somehow I don't think it will be. That's an awful lot of human upset they've caused in building up people to believe they've won an utterly fantastic holiday, only to pull the rug from under their feet a few hours later.

Sorry - but actions have consequences, and when someone's dropped a clanger of this proportion then there's going to be a price to pay. I'm so angry about this. Not told my wife yet that it was a mistake. She's currently in a meeting where she's likely to be made redundant, so this will be a nice extra kick in the chops for her when I phone her later. Thanks for that, Boots.

Hi, I got the same one. Got a second email saying were sorry but due to a technical error you have not won a trip for two to Barcelona. We appoligise for any inconvience caused.
