  • Hi Guys - Can anyone help??
I've sent the 3rd letter as per web site to Abbey on 6th April 07 requesting bank charges back in full or court action - i have received a letter today saying that they will contact me within four weeks as they will need time to investigate the complaint further - do i just go ahead with the next letter or wait until they reply - i think they are dragging their feet but i just want to know if anyone elase has the same problem?
  • Keep at it. I had the same problem with the Halifax. The banks could be holding fire until the court case is heard ref the Nat West to see what the judgement is.

Standard letter from all the banks, carry on with your timescale nothing to do with any other cases that may or not be held.
  • Hi, I have put in a claim on my husbands half to Halifax for approx £2300.00. Halifax have wrote back saying they have upto 8 weeks just to investigate is this right?????

I put my charges reclaim letter in to Lloyds TSB on 20th March.

Recently got a letter (dated 28th March) from Recovery Centre in Andover saying something along the lines of "we are looking into your complaint" and that "they expect their enquiries to be completed within the next four weeks"

Do we accept this, or push on with the court process.... bearing in mind the letter I sent to them (Martin's template) gave them 14 days?

You can find all your answers in the HALIFAX thread which gives you all the answers to the questions you ask. Please look at the threads before writing your own as this question has been asked many a time.

The answer is that it is a delay tactic by Halifax, you stick to your deadline and proceed when its up. This will hurry up your cases.

Hi there, I am in the process of reclaiming my bank charges. I have sent a letter to the bank with the amount I am requesting to be refunded and they have responded with a letter stating that the are legally allowed 8 weeks to deal with the complaint. The template letter I sent them requested the refund in 14 days. Does anyone know if this is legally correct or is it just a way of trying to prolong the process?

Have you read any of this thread or just jumped straight in? It's a delay tactic by the bank. You keept pursuing your claim. I do have to say that after them stating that it would take to the 1st May to deal with my case it took them to 16th April (4 weeks after claiming to be 8 weeks) to send me a letter stating I can have £XXX amount back, I rang them up got an increase on this figure and am now awaiting for the 'funds' to placed in to my account.
