I have sent off the second letter telling them i wont to claim back the bank charges for the last 6 years.they wrote back to me saying they are looking into this. (this was in the Day period) so i thought i would ring the bank and see how it was going head, they said they would give a answure within 8 weeks from the day i received it.
Now do i wait for 8 weeks or send them the 3rd letter saying i am taking the to court to claim my charges back

If you haven't had a reply within the 14 days you then write the second letter on day 15.

you told them 14 days in 1st letter and 14 days in the 2nd......

that said, they prob have thousands of accounts to go throrgh now..... but 28 days is what they give you....
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.
  • Ive just received a letter from the Halifax in response to my letter requesting repayment of bank charges inc interest (Stage 2?). The letter from the Halifax states they have 8 weeks to investigate even through the letter i sent gives them 14 days !! What do i do ? Any help gratefully recd. Cheers.

    Hi,

I was wondering if any one could help me. I'm currently in the process of claiming back my charges from HSBC and on Step 3. Write to the bank and ask it for your money

How much time are they allowed before they have to respond back? Its been 4 weeks since i had an acknowledgment letter from them.

I've phoned and they say they have up to 8 weeks (FSA) to decide while they investigate. Is this true.

    Many Thanks

Hi I'm with HSBC too and am at the same stage as you I've threatened court action and received acknowledgement letter but that was 2 wks ago and I wonder what to do next - do we continue with court dates regardless of them acknowledging the demand?
I'm completely new to using these threads and am getting confused with where to post???

The 8 weeks is set by the Financial Ombudsman Service, and are therefore only if you intend to escalate the matter to them. Of course the bank would quote this figure - the FO requires them to refer all complainants to him (no jobs, no job) and it gives them more time to do nothing and hope you will go away.

If you intend to take them to court, then you set the deadlines. If these have expired, go on to the next action without further delay.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Thanks for the advise - I think I will just carry on to the next stage and go straight to court action?
