Thanks for your explanation Bextech and I can see how it has worked out satisfactory for you.

Cable is not available in my area and all the new Promotional Deals have finished so, to my mind VoIP for a newcomer is just is just not worth it.

How much money have you got tied up in credit? because in a way that money is what you're going to lose eventually, either by making perhaps unnecessary paid calls or just letting the credit run out to get your free days.

Currently have just over €36 (36 Euro) in credit on the account, it was free anyway from the old easyMobile, it was use it up with easyMobile over a couple of weeks or lose it, but it was all free credit, I topped up various accounts, donated to charity by sms and entered competitions.

When my free days are up, I'll still have the credit to use up at 1c/min, so not really losing out.

  • Hi,

Hope someone can help. I have recently purchased one of these units.
I have managed to get to the point where all 4 of my lights are blue.
Line 1 = sipgate (shows online in the basic and advanced view)
Line 2 = voipbuster (shows online in the basic and advanced view)

I cannot seem to make or receive any calls? If I ring my sipgate
number I can hear ringing but my phone which is connected to
    the PAP2 is not ringing?
The same goes for voipbuster? If I try ringing out I get nothing?

I have downloaded both the voipbuster and sipgate software
and I am able to dial-out using the software.

The firmware version is 3.1.8(LS) and it is a PAP2-NA
The PAP2 is connected to a netgear WGR614 Cable router.
In my Port Forwarding section of the router I have a custom
Server with all ports open going to the PAP2.

Anyone have any idea what I can try to find out what the problem is?

    Many Thanks for your help.

What are you using to connect the phones to the ports on the ATA?

Do you hear the dial tone when you pick each phone up on the line to make the call via Sipgate or VoIPBuster?

Are you dialling the full number including STD on Sipgate?

Are you dialling internationally on VoIPBuster - 00441... or 00442... if you haven't set up dial plans, not sure which services of Betamax allow national dialling in place of international.

I have connected the phones directly and with a BT ADSL Filter.

No. I am not getting any dialtone.

Are you using RJ11 to BABT leads to connect the phones to the phone ports?

If using RJ11 - RJ11 it could be that the RJ11 leads are wired incorrectly.

  • Hi,

I am using two phones. One is a BT quartet 3500, this has a RJ11 socket which I can connect directly to the PAP2. The other is quite a old phone which only has a BT type socket, for which I use a ADSL Filter.

I did a google on RJ11 to BABT for more info and found a forum thread in which (from my understanding) you seemed to be suggesting that what I am doing will not work, unless I have a adaptor with a ring capacitor or am using a DECT Phone?

I just checked my sipgate account and within the settings it is
showing that I have the PAP2 and the sipgate software as connected
    devices.

Also my recent calls log I am seeing missed calls where I tried to call
from my Mobile to the sipgate number which I have.

    Many thanks for your help.
