I am having problems too, begining to think device is faulty.

Bought a new patch cable and a BT phone to US adapter. (is that OK)

When all leads are connected to the device and router, Phone, Cat5 cable and power. I only have two lights lit Power (Red) and Ethernet on even with no cable connected (Blue) and nothing shows connected on my router ports lights or devices in the router configuration when Network cable is connected .

I have tried dialing **** 110# and all I here is silence apart from the noise of the keys being pushed from a wireless phone with base unit connected to the PAP2.

Aslo tried a regular BT phone and again silence and no noise when keys are pressed.

How long does it take for the menu to come back at you after you press **** ? I take it it asks for another input in our case 110#.

Also tried **** 110# as a complete string.

Just found a lead US to US so tried that from both phones to PAP2 with no adapter, still nothing.

Should I be able to access the 110# menu without the ethernet connected?

Only power and Ethernet should be lit when first connected, though both should light blue (red usually indicates a fault) the two line leds will light once the account details have been entered and the PAP2 has registered as online with the VoIP providers.

Sometimes if the ethernet cable isn't fully connected, it can cause the RED LED fault on the power.

Have you tried with just the power connected to the PAP2 and the ethernet cable between the PAP2 and router and see if you get two blue LEDs?

If the lead is the correct lead (some leads such as BT plug to RJ11 can be wired differently, some with the two wires on the wrong pins of the RJ11 cable) then you should hear something haver dailing ****, it should say 'Configuration menu, please enter option followed by the # key, or hang up to exit'.

You should be able to access the menu without the cable connected.

Until you have entered the account details, you won't hear a dialling tone, only silence, the dial tone will be played back to you when you pick the phone once it locks onto your VoIP provider, ATAs only generate the sound locally as a comfort, so you know you can make calls.

Edit: Another thought, have you switched off your router and back on again, so it can recognise something new has been plugged in?

Yeah I did try that, folowing some trouble shooting tips I downloaded.

OK I will start again and detail what I get:

Just got the unit pluged into mains, Power light (RED) and Ethernet (BLUE). nothing else connected.

Turning power off and attaching Ethernet cable to router and PAP2.

    Rebooting router.

Still got REd on Power and Blue on ethernet and no device showing in router config (netgear 834G).

Pluging a wirless phone base unit into PAP2 using the USA - USA cable (RJ11)

    Dialed **** and nothing.

Could you confirm what the lights should be with just the power and ethernet cable connected.

    Or just the power.

Tried it with various telephone cable configurations, tested cable OK using normall phone line by adding another BT-USA addaptor.

    Been Googling.

    Looks like it's dead:

    Power LED Blue/Red

    Off - Power off
Blue On - Power On / Device Ready
Blue Blinking - Booting / System Self-Test / Firmware Upgrade
Red On - Power On Self Test Failure (not bootable) / Device Malfunction.

Sorry for the delay in replying, hadn't noticed you had edited your previous post.

The LEDs you have listed are correct, though my Power Led does from time to time flick red first, then flashes blue and then steady blue on power up. Also the power LED stays RED if the Ethernet cable is loose.

With just the power, you should have the one blue LED.

With the Ethernet connected, two blue LEDs.

With the account details entered on each line, when they register with the VoIP provider they will stay a solid blue (flashing whilst trying to register and when making receiving calls to indicate in use).

If the device is show red power LED with only the power connected and nothing else, it does sound like it could be a fault.

I've just found this thread, (think it might have been me bidding against you BritBrat :S)
I've just received my pap2, with just the power on, the pap2 power light flashes blue, when i plug the router in then i get two blue lights, but the corresponding light on my router is orange and its usually green when I've attached my other computer to it. Also, I bought a US to UK adaptor at my local 'corner' electronics shop for £1.50, have connected a phone and when I type in **** i get nothing. Ive tried using 2 different cables and two different phones, one a dect and the other a runofthemill cordy jobby (im a tech head eh?) but i cannot access the voice menu. I am using the same UK to UK adaptor so maybe thats wonky?
I can access the pap2 menu via my browser but now Im stuffed, any ideas?
    Cheers
