I suppose, that is called a ’Freudian slip'! :D:D:D
  • I just need to tell everyone about the latest Halifax have done, a cheque was due to be paid for £25.99p after a week or so i noticed it had still not been cashed, so spoke to Halifax who informed me it had been returned, on enquiring how much short i was - wait for it, a grand total of £1.15p and they were charging me £39.00p for the pleasure, when challenged the helpful lady said should would enquire, after a few minutes she came back and said because i had accepted refunds on charges previously (Which was done with the help of this site) then they were not able to lift the charge.
Obviously i am annoyed and will be changing banks, but i am pleased that through claiming the money back for charges previously through this site, that it has really got the banks backs up.
If anyone has any ideas of any other way of getting the £39.00 lifted, please get back to me.
    Thanks

Can anybody advise if claims for charges on Halifax Mortgages are also being put on hold
  • Due in court on friday for my hearing. Received partial offer two months ago, which I accepted without prejudice by letter.

Letter from the halifax today, blah, blah but saying if I don't sign to say this is a full/final settlement within two months, will ask for the money back.

Can they do this, or just a scare tatic?.

Well prepared for court, but just need clarification on this point, any help will be appreciated and help with my stress levels as I approach Friday.

I would raise the matter with the judge on Friday explain that you want to leave the option of pursuing for the rest of the claim in the event that favourable rulings occur before the final disposal of this matter.
As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person

  • I have followed the reclaim steps, but the Halifax have now responded saying that my claim has been denied and other claims have been put on hold pending an oficial enquiy through the courts. What is my next step??? After the initial hype of being able to reclaim bank charges everything seems to have gone quiet. Unfortunately I happened to go overdrawn by £9 last month, this was due to 2 switch transactions and my salary going into my account late. I was charged £60 (2 X £30). I went into the branch to express my concern, and that I could not afford to pay these charges. I was referrred to the branch manager who belittled and berated me for this happening. He actually asked me if I could afford to have an account with them! I left his office feeling absolutely crumpled. Fortunately for me, he told me that as he was in a good mood after returning from his annual two week holiday in Greece and that he would reverse "one" of the charges.
Please let me know (1) Are charges still illegal ? (2) What is the next step?.

    Hi,
You should carry on with your reclaim, as it up to the individual courts/judges to decide on staying cases, NOT the bank, they can only request a stay.
