  • But from your opening post, your idea of "good faith" is keeping the money and leaving your buyer out of pocket.

That just sums it up perfectly.

The sad thing is the solution to this was within the first 7 posts but OP chose to ignore solid advice from seasoned eBayers wanting his buyers to claim and repeatedly ignoring people who know exactly what they are talking about.

When this is pointed out posters are called fools and arrogant pricks.

I get the impression that OP was of the opinion that it was tough all along and that it wasn't his responsibility, only grudgingly accepting that actually it was. I also get the impression that OP has instantly concluded his buyers are thieves out to rob him.

It's a shame that the good advice in the first few posts went unheeded really, but some people are beyond help.

Obviously I wasn't familiar with the process as I had never had this happen before. It wouldn't be completely unreasonable to expect that they buyer could claim from RM, infact according to some people who have PMd me since I started this thread that is exactly what they do.

You all need to understand that just because you think you "know better" it doesn't give you the right to feel like you can exploit people's lack of knowledge and try and twist an agenda to turn people against them and make people seem like they are no good. I can quote a host of things you have all said that would make you all look like idiots. Removing context is an evil thing to do.

Since starting this thread apparently now I'm a guy who wants to keep the buyers money with no resolution who has miss-treated them badly. Strange that as I currently have 100% positive feedback, volunteer for a national charity amongst other things so sorry for being such a terrible person. But hey, I hope you sleep well knowing that for some people the tone you approach to de-railing threads can actually really hurt people. It isn't big or clever to jump on someone just because they have detailed a few actions that you don't believe are appropriate.

Shame on you all you horrible people.

On here we appreciate that people aren't familiar with processes, but when people explain them to you its wise not to completely ignore what you have been told, repeatedly.

This thread didn't get derailed until you started hurling abuse at anyone you disagreed with. When it was pointed out (repeatedly) how to keep your feedback, your customer happy and your ebay account you called us names.

Whether you deem the advice appropriate is up to you at the end of the day, but that advice is coming from eBayers of fifteen years or more standing with perfect star ratings and feedback because we know how to deal with our buyers appropriately.

If that makes us horrible people then so be it, but I shan't lose any sleep over it.

You are the one who started name calling people, and now you talk about hurting people?
Can't you see the hypocrisy in that?

People have given you advice, sometimes quite direct advice, but advice none the less.

You've taken it the wrong way as what you wanted to hear was:-

"Get the buyer to claim" and what you got was "Refund the buyer, you are being unprofessional". You took that advice as some sort of personal affront and started a tirade against people, telling them to shut up / calling names.

Walk away from the keyboard and have a bit of time away from this.

Whilst away, think about what you would think if you ordered something from a company you've never dealt with, that didn't arrive.
When you phone them, they say "We sent it, we have proof, if you want any money back, you have to claim from Royal Mail" - how would you feel?

The thing is OP you have totally failed to recognise that, as a seller it's YOUR responsibility to make sure what you have sold gets to the person who has bought it.

If they say it hasn't been received then (whether you believe them or not) you have to accept it; unless you have proof of delivery.

I've been selling on ebay for years, but am a private seller so don't sell much. The odd time I have had a problem I have taken the advice/suggestions of posters in this part of the Forum on board.

And it's probably thanks to people on here (in particular Soolin, Crowqueen and Pulliptears) that my DSRs are 4.9/5.0; 5.0/5.0. 4.9/5.0 and 4.8/5.0. And I have 100% feedback currently.

Why? Buyers can only get positives.

Please, this is relevant because? Don't tell me you are a carer or wheelchair user or your pet/spouse/child recently passed away.....

You say you wanted help - yet you completely ignored any advice given - and instead started attacking people.

Eg - i told you i would wait two weeks - ie the 17th - before refunding. You would think thats what you wanted to hear - but you ignored me.

Had you not ignored me - i would have gone on to tell you that, even if the buyer fails to respond to Royal Mail - you cannot loose your claim - Royal Mail must provide the signature you paid for.

So carry on upsetting people. Some of us try very hard to keep our Ebay accounts - you will regret throwing yours away.

And only a child would remove their first post to try and sabotage the thread. You don't even deserve your place on MSE - never mind Ebay.

    GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
