Hands up who hates posters who only post smilies?;)I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
I get really fed up of posters who flame other posters, there's been one yesterday/today regarding a Faux suede bed (or something like that anyway) and the poor poster has been pulled to pieces by at least 2 other posters, this is happening more and more in this forum, I thought people were here to help others, not pick bits out of other people's posts. I had a bargain the other day (well I thought it was) and I was pulled to pieces by another poster. Hey ho you live and learn don't you0

My MSE irritation.... is the name of this thread.
I keep seeing it and thinking there's a problem - when actually this is a "what do people do in the forums that bug you" thread!Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Hi Martin,
Somewhere further up this thread, there is criticism of the forum's search software, it recommends using "google" instead.
I read this and did an explanation here:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=5314635&highlight=Icon#post5314635
Now if you publicise this fast way of cutting into an individual thread and the fans of this site keep on using it, the site will be pushed up the google ratings and lots more unrelated people will find it.:T
You already have an international thread debating "gold farming" here:

PS A real criticism: Could there be a way of tidying up the huge threads, where the same question is asked again and again somewhere in 1000 postings - perhaps some sort of search index on the first page ?0 -
The answer to your PS is that the moderators/board guides can, and should, merge the duplicates into one OR delete the unnecessary duplicates (and pm the users to tell them why). You are absolutely right that there is tonnes of pointless duplication.
The recent Lloyds TSB victory in the bank charges case was a great example. There were about 20 separate threads started on the subject - 19 of which were very silly, because they were all in the same forum and it was obvious they were duplicates to anyone who spent 2 seconds searching - but rather than delete the duplicates, they were all merged into one very repetitive thread. And then, of course, people asked on that very repetitive thread "why do people keep saying the same thing" and "why do they keep posting the same link to the BBC article".
D'oh! (And that "D'oh" is NOT aimed at those who asked the questions referred to in the last sentence).0 -

i have to say, in the last month or so there have been a lot more nasty comments on threads than i've noticed in the past (or am i just spending more time on here!!). everyone can disagree and you'd expect that, but some people seem to be going overboard on the insults and personal comments...... after recent threads i wouldn't want to post on the rants board for fear of the replies... and that's quite sad! lucky there are enough nice MSErs to make up for the minority of rude ones!
