Are they censored by admin or automatically by the forum software?

Yes it is the software isn't it - you're quite right. Wonder though if someone sets the words the software is to censor ?

OK I'll again mention I detest all the really naff and crass abbreviatons - you know the MIL/DD/FIL all that carp.

I have now decided mind if I see posts like this I'll just ignore them (shame for the poster if I might have been able to offer something useful to the thread , but I'm not prepared to sit there scratching my head for 5 minutes trying to work out what some cryptic code means)

Last time this came up I went on a majot, major rant, upset a handful of posters and had my post deleted :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That kind of censorship I don't like either - a forum (by it's very and literal definition) is a ... ehm well forum really, for people to have their say whatever the subject, whatever their view.

You don't have to agree with me but I expect to get to have my say without censorship. If you say something I disagree with or even annoys me - I may ignore it, I may reespond - BIT I would not expect your comments to be removed.
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

Know it's been said before but diaries should definitely have their own place IMO - in my opinion, judders, and yes funnily I agree with you on the abbreviation thing in a way but it serves a purpose - they are of no interest to me whatsoever.

The trolls and flamers are often the most amusing or provocative and can actually liven up a dull thread. Sometimes people's desire to censor is way ott (over the top).

Also, can't stand the pointless hugs and kisses. Sometimes someone, perhaps quite mature and eloquent will post their situation in all seriousness and get relatively bombarded by a load of silly smilies and things from what I assume is a bunch of very young girls offering their support. It's not like it's sincere, and it certainly isn't helpful...

To track the threads you've posted on:
Go to user cp>options>messaging>there's a drop down menu that allos you to subscribe to threads either with or without email notification.

If you haven't posted on a thread but want to track it, use thread tools>subscribe to this thread

    Think that's right ;)

Thanks, AB, I have done this but sometimes the original poster doesn't update their thread and I am left wondering for ever.....

Thanks, YB. It's funny that a later post complained about use of TLAs - I don't mind acronyms, as long as they are ones that I understand! I've never seen AE in any thread on MSE.

In respect of an earlier post in this thread, I get pretty annoyed by people who wrap their posts so they are only half the width of the screen. Is it because they are used to manual typewriters and haven't worked out that they don't need to type "carriage return" at the end of each line? Perhaps meher (for it is them) could explain?
