Have you tried walking in to potential employers with a c.v and bubbly personality?MissSarah1972 wrote: »Getting a few of my own interviews and nothing via agencies
I don't accept applications that have not came via email, yet can't refuse someone enthusiastic enough to just walk in and create an instant interest.
I ask for their name to watch for their c.v come through.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth

Oh yes, may I also remind you that I display PLENTY of drive, determination, enthusiasm etc. - but unfortunately, it still doesn't seem to cut any ice with Mersey employers. They know, you see, they can pick and choose from the many thousands on the dole in this area.
Do you see?
Not enough of anything to take me up on my offer to look at your CV though.
The rest of us can see exactly why you aren't getting anywhere. But you carry on blaming your location, employers, the weather, Santa and his elves mate. That'll get you a job.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Is looking for "admin" a problem?
I cannot remember anywhere in the last 25 years of my career, and covering three very different industry sectors, that we had the luxury of someone to do "admin".
Admin is something everyone has to do as part of their role, it isnt always a role in itself, certainly not any more.
You may think there is no work out there, but you have to know how to make sure you stand out. I am in work, put my CV out speculatively/or response to an advert to about 10 companies within the last week, and already had at least five want to see me. They havent met me, so something must be going right on paper as it were. Perhaps it is back to basics, of reviewing the application, and ensuring your skills are bang up to date for the world we live in today.0 -

I once used that as an excuse for being late to an interview. Employer accepted the reason and I was offered a job.0 -

No you call them up and save them time because you hold the initial phone interview there and then. You show a proactive attitude, demonstrate strong communication skills and show how much you want the job. You show the value of strong relationships because you want to build them.0 -

You show you're the type who tries to avoid following rules. The employer won't recognise it as a phone interview. You'll have to do the same thing everyone else does. Don't go highlighting strong communication skills when you just demonstrated you are incapable of reading what the instructions say and following it to the word. Employer doesn't want to establish any relationship with you since it's a waste of time at this stage. If every applicant did that, employer won't be able to do his/her own job.
It's proactive alright, but in the wrong way.0 -
Oh no, here we go again: people with shallow-minded misconceptions about the sincerity of my determined job hunt . . .
I give up!notanewuser wrote: »Not enough of anything to take me up on my offer to look at your CV though.

A lot can be said of the merits of facebook but I got a job through one of my contacts on facebook...and not via the traditional route of getting my cv ignored by the umpteen applications I have sent.0
