The engines are fine. Count all the bad stories and then you realise this is a tiny percentage of the numbers sold.

And sometimes people are complaining about the same car. Seller flogs the faulty car to a buyer, Buyer then realises its £££ to fix or the cheap solutions dont work so they resell it and then it appears again and the new owner tries the cheap fixes. This goes on until someone buys it that knows what to look for and howto fix it or scraps it.

Ive heard of lots of people that have had the pumps go on your engine also.

If you sell 1 million of something with as many parts as a car your bound to get a couple that go wrong.

I remember reading something where there were testing a RollsRoyce and it broke down.
When they phoned up to tell them, They were told dont be silly our cars never break down.

Old cars are pot luck, My euro 4 Mondeo is running fine thanks. But with only 160,000 on the clock it should be.

Full service years and an oil change every 6 months as with all my cars.

You clearly haven't got a clue about the engine this thread is based on.

he does and is well updated to the fact of the 1.6 TDCI 05 on is problematic, but as he is in the trade doesnt want a full on panic about them and have no-one buy the two or three he has sat on his forcourt at present.

How cynical of you :) I have a choice of 8 if you want to buy a nice cheap reliable car ideal for all the family, Have one each i can do you a good deal :)

I dont have a car yard, I dont sell cars either.

Until recently i was dragging 4x4's out of ditches because the owners thought they were invinceable in the 2mm of snow we had.

I now sell recon turbo units :rotfl:

    Anyone need a focus 1.6 turbo? :A

:D never had a problem with the electric windows, coil packs, card reader, keycard, heater elemant (yes all 4 setting works as should do), it an authentique but ive upgraded interior to a dynamique with the leather steering wheel, has a nice leather and chrome gearknow, and the silver dynamique privi extreme gaiter surround aswell, silver interior door handles, hexagon dark silver dash facia, and arm rest. just had winter pirelli socks put on aswell owned for just over 2 years, loads reciepts for bits and bobs and also the electric steering lock packed 4 months after purchase, i put a new renault maindealer one on it (£365) and many other main dealer reciepts aswell, what its needed its had either by a dealer or motor factor sourced parts.

even still has its plastic sump guard still.

    in lovely light green/gold metallic

not long had new cat and center pipe, ball joints, and track rods and rack ends too (because they were rusty and looked dated) flew through MOT last sept with only 2 minor advisories wich wer sorted.

lol, i have a rare megane! no problems whatso ever had a part ex price offer today for £1300.00.
  • EU4 was the golden age of modern diesels IMO. Largely reliable and massive performance gains over previous diesels. Then manufacturers had to cut emmissions with constant pressure to boost performance AND economy - Car manufacturers arnt magic, they can't keep making more power while using less fuel without using very expensive technology. As said on a previous post, unless you do big mileage a new diesel is a false economy.

Manufacturers are finding it easier. Just fit a trip computer that tells you the MPG and adjust it to tell lies :)

You drive around and it says 80mpg, You tell everyone how good it is and whilst your doing that you forget to notice how often your filling it up.

I want an old school diesel next. But it must have 150BHP minimum and do 60+mpg. Under 9 seconds 0 - 60.

    Suggestions ??
