Managed to get 22 boxes in two trips. Also picked up 20 packs of the 'Home Bargains' ones. Although both types of heat log packs weigh 10Kg the 20 HB ones only take up the space of 13 UK heat logs.

Wow are they that good value? Maybe I should get some more?
  • I got 10 boxes from our local Aldi yesterday.
Tried them today; put fire in at 11.30am with paper, sticks and a firelighter.
Put 2 heatlogs on 11.35, burned well with good flame. Checked fire at 1.00pm, temperature about 300F. Was going to put more logs on when wife said can we go into town, so I didn't bother re-fueling, just left it.
Got back at 3.10 expecting fire to be out, although no sign of life it was still pretty hot, so I opened bottom vent and it sprang back to life.
Put another 2 logs on straightaway and they burned through till 6.20 this evening. At 2.99 for 10kg these are very good value. I.M.O.

Got about 1 and half hours good heat from one heat log and a couple of small logs. It seemed to hold the heat higher for longer whereas I find once the temperature has peaked it drops off pretty quick normally.
  • Hi all.

I have been researching heat logs. Unfortunately I don't have an Aldi close by so I bought 20 hotties online during the week for £15.99.

Got home today and my wife mentioned that Tesco were selling 12 heat logs for £5.00. I went down and picked up 4 packs. They are fuel express.

They are smaller than the hotties. In length the Hotties are around 23.5cm whereas the Tesco ones are 19.5cm. The hotties are about 7cm diameter, tesco about 6.5cm. The tesco ones look quite dense.

Haven't tried them yet but will give them a go soon.
  • The Fuel Express ones are a mix of imported and UK made and then packaged with their branding.

As pointed out, they are smaller than Hotties and should not be expected to last as long. You do get 12 in a pack instead of 10, but the pack weights average 8.5 - 9kg rather than 10 kg for Hotties, so the Tesco ones work out more expensive.
